Transforming titles into chapters

I have a strange problem here.

I have made, with great difficulties, a demo with NeroVision Express, from 43 differents publicities. I am satisfied with the result, and the menus pages created by Nero, but...

The problem is that it is a DVD with 43 titles... and when u push SKIP on a remote, you don't get to the next one! Very infortunate, inconveniant.

To fix that, I'd like to transform the 43 titles into... one title and 43 chapters! If possible, without touching the menu pages (is that even possible?)...

And in a future life, I'd like to get a real DVD authoring software!!!

Any clue somebody?

Are the titles in one VTS or 43? If in one, just create a "play all" title with PgcEdit.

Otherwise, insert 42 new chapters into title 1 and replace the blank chapters with the video from each of the 42 titles (T2-43). Either PgcEdit (to insert the chapters) and VobBlanker (to replace them) or DVD Remake Pro (all in one) can do this.

I haven't encounter this particular problem with DVD created by NeroVision Express with menu included and yet and hope that the following suggestion (works with DVD Shrink and no menu and created by the same man) will work for you. Please download PgcEdit and DVDShrink plugin v1.4 and place it in the PgcEdit's plugins folder, start PgcEdit, load the DVD, go to Plugins on toolbar > DVDShrink > select and run DVDShrink Remote Button > Yes > press Check all > press continue > go to File and click Save DVD to save the change. By doing these step, hopefully you'll be able to use remote control with it:

Not sure it will work Ben due to use of GPRMs.

What about your method of joining titles? I forgot about that. He could effectively start at post 2.

I've thought about that too and just hope that it will work for him so that can be the great learning experience for us and our members about the great tools such as PgcEdit and its plugins as well

fredhammersmith wants to keep his own menu intact. I think your suggestion about PgcEdit, VobBlanker, and DVD Remake Pro is totally perfect for him to correct that problem

I suspect his menu is in a single VTS and can be imported after the title join (eg in PgcEdit). The VM commands may need changing (from Jump to title xx to Jump to Title 1, Chapter xx) but that's all.

DVD Remake Pro is terrific in that it handles all this for you.

Hi. Back from production...

To answer a previous question: yes my titles are in 35 vob files. And my menu is in a single vob.

First, I'll try blutach method. (BTW, the link provided for the know-how to post IFO is not working right now...)

This is a bit complicated for me, i'll do my best.

I edited my 1st title using Pgcedit, inserting 34 chapters with the "Edit Chapter (PTT) table" button in the Pgc editor. But on opening the resulting DVD with VobBlanker, I do not see any indication that there are 35 chapters. (Are cells and chapters the same thing?)

My lack of knowledge of DVD structure must be very obvious. Do I have to insert some content in my chapters before switching to VobBlanker?

And what is the command for that? I seem to be able to change the title number referenced by the button... (JumpTT) but i'm still searching for the correct syntax to get to, say, title 1 chapter 3. I thought the command JUMPVTS_PTT would do it. It is not. I'm sure it is quite simple, really.

Easiest way fred, is in PgcEdit. It has many ways of entering commands properly and will make sure the command is correctly entered.

Use the "from -to" mode in the command editor. Add a few NOPs and double click on each one in turn to bring up the command editor. See the (badly written and hopelessly outa date - gee, I got to fix that!) help file.

Using the 1st method suggested (inserting blank cells with PgcEdit, replacing them with titles with VOB blanker) seems to be working fine, until i got this error message:
NavPack out of VOB!!
NavPack???
It was in the final stages of the "TITLE VOB FIXING POINTERS" phase of the VobBlanker process.
I am sure this means something to somebody who is not a sailor.

A NavPack is exactly what it sound like - a Navigation packet and sigifes the start of every group of pictures. It contains essential presentation control and data search information.

Sounds like one of your titles is badly muxed.

Well, it is done now. I was able, using PGCedit and VOBblanker, to put all my 34 titles (and VOB files) in one title, by way of creating 33 chapters and replacing them with the titles 2 to 34.

I still have one glitch: the sound level on the DVD is way too high for some DVD players (the ones that boost sound levels by default). I want to DEMUX the title, normalize the sound level, remux it.

I downloaded PGC demux and got to work. For some reason, PGC demux always stop its work on the 4th chapter. It demux just the first three chapters.

I went in the PGC editor of PGCedit, to see if there is something particular in the 4th chapter. In fact, there is. On inserting new chapters, for some reason, the VOB/cell ID went from #3 to #15 between the 3rd and the 4th PTT, as u can see in this screen capture.

[more on this] When I use VOB blanker to extract the cells (beginning at chapter 4) and then try to read them in Nero Show Time, i am told that the resulting vob file is either not supported or corrupted. (At the same time, the preview function in Vob blanker and pgc edit works perfectly).

Run the project through FixVTS - that should fix up your VID/CID problems.

Or tick the box in VobBlanker in more settings as follows:

- Reorder VID/CID sequence if necessary
- Renumber VID/CIDs to be consecutive
- Update STC discont flag according to VOB

Fixs VTS: half the job

Fix VTS is doing half of the job...
It is remapping PTT #4 to #10, replacing the cell id from #15-#21 #4 to #10.
But then, it indicated that PTTs from #11 to #34 (cells ids #51-1 to #74-1) are unrefered cells. And the chapters just disappear!

As for VobBlanker, it is worse...
It just replaces all cells from #4 to #34 by blank cells.
