I own a collection of music dvds that I use in presentations. Currently I am accessing it through our soundboard and making my choices and whether or not I want captions or background voices. We are trying to use the computer in order to consolidate the presentations onto one source. I am wondering if it is possible to take this music dvd and divide it into the individual video songs with options to have captions and or background onto the hard drive. This way we can the intire presentations in a folder and with a click have what we need for that day. Is it possible?

When you say captions, do you mean subtitles?
Do you want either:
(i) audio but no subtitles or
(ii) no audio but have the subtitles displaying
on your selected songs?
And, if so, will this stay constant, or will the next presentation have a change in some of the songs?

You should only use genuine Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden media. Many thanks to www.pcx.com.au for their supply and great service.

we use these dvds to sing along with. I would need to be able to have visual and audio with the ability to see the words to the song being played. I have been able to just click on the vob file, but it gives me voice over without anything else. It would change week to week based on which songs I was going to use.Comment

well, why don't you download media player classic (see link in my signature above)?
Play these not as single VOBs but as DVDs. You can switch on the subtitles or audio as you please.

But, say for instance I want to use only a couple of video songs off a particular dvd. I would like to be able to put together my entire presentation along with powerpoint, instrumental music and the video music I want to use that week. I would like to be able to put it all in a folder and open it and use only what is in that folder. My problem is that although I can pull a vob, I don't know how to modify the vob to choose how I want it to play. ie..with or without voices, with or without captions etc.
I don't know if it is possible. I also don't know it I need to put the dvd on the hard drive since I could be working off several different dvds and not have to keep the dvd in the rom drive. Is any of this possible?Comment
