Help Please

I just joined hoping to find some help.
Im very new to DVD burning so bear with me.
I bought some fan made dvds off ebay that had like 10 or 12 eps. of a 30 min show with not that bad video or audio quality, but when I try to make a DVD i can only get 4 or 5 with horrible quailty.

Basicaly all I want to do is make a DVD with a plain menu and about 5 or so hours of video.

Remember when I say new I mean it. So as easy as possible.

P.S. I have been searching for almost a year now so please any help would be very much apreciated.

Sounds like you have very bad source media.

Before offering any advice - can you please do a check of your media ID code and firmware (see link in my signature)? Also, test your media (see "How to test your disc" in my signature).

Are you talking about the kind of dvds im using? They are Sony.

It would be the discs you bought. Just follow blutach's directions & supply the information you get.

Put the source media in the drive.

Open DVD Decrypter. Check the media ID Code and firmware.

But I not trying to copy the dvds I have. I was wondering how to take different video files and put that on a dvd.

OK, the media you have got these files on is good stuff and your DVD drive shoud be able to read them.

Rip them to a folder on your hard drive with DVD Decrypter.

Then go to the sticky in this forum and download titlewriter. It will make menus for you. After you save the project, you can burn it. If needed shrink with something like DVD Shrink.

Thanks for the help but I didnt want to copy it. I already know how to do that what I wanted to do is make my own dvd with different video files but I coundlnt figure out how he got that many on one 4.7 disk I was just wondering if you could help me with that.

I would like to take about 11-12 episodes of a 30 min show and put them on a dvd like the ones I bought.

No, my apologies for not understanding

You have 6 hours of vid (is it in DVD format)?

If so, perhaps use DVD Shrink in re-author mode - see here. Then use titlewriter to add your menus.

The files are .avi. I am trying to put them on a dvd that i created using nero.
but i can only seem to get 5 or 6 of them on the dvd. From the dvds that I bought I know its possible to get 11 or 12 on a dvd i was just wondering how he did it so That I can do the same with different vids.

Your burnable Dvd's are SL (Single Layer around 4.3 Gig storage) the ones you bought (EBay and most commercial) are DL (Dual Layer -- Around twice an SL)

11 to 12 30 min episodes is 3 1/2 to 4 hrs (quality/bitrate can't be that great to begin with)

You could drag all into shrink and compress to fit on a sl (I'm guessing the Quality would be crap though) Might be better to split the episodes over 2 or 3 disks then use Titlewriter on each compiliation.

I take it you are using NeroVision Express which will do everything you want & also be able to burn it to a dvd. Have you checked these Avi's out on your computer? If so & they look okay I would follow the advice above but do one test disc with 4 episodes on it then play it in your standalone. If you are satisfied then continue. In Express you can rename your menu buttons to say episode 1 etc. You don't want to mess around with dual layer just starting out, for one thing they are expensive. BTW use good media.
