combined 5 vobs in an audio dvd compilation test. used benbryants method with vob edit to join the vobs, ifoedit to create the ifos, ifoedit to strip streams, tried fixVTS instead of mock stream and it worked fine--?) then pgcedit to move the 5.1 audio track to default (all the vobs were from 1 dvd so the audio order was the same). then ran the new HD folder thru shrink with still pictures under compression settings to decrease the size (lowered a 1.2 gig file down to a little over 1/3 gig. btw the 2.0 channel still shows up as audio 1 in shrink, but when I play the HD folder in my software player the 5.1 is the default audio). the problem is that instead of 5 chapters (1 for each cut vob) there are now 12. ( under ifoedit when making the new IFOs, I chose (left) create 1 pgc only, (right) create chapter for each new cell---Is this the problem? (new to authoring, and would (left) "create a pgc for each new vobID, (right) "create chapter for 1st cell only of each pgc", solve the chapter problem? (or another combination of the 4) I want a chapter for each VOB. also now that I've got this test compilation, is there any way to use pgcedit to repartition the chapter breaks down from 12 to 5 (1 for each initial vob break)? thx
btw blutach, thx. haven't tried this yet, but I'm going to. just a matter of figuring it out.
To make the 5.1 your default, PgcEdit has a very nifty utility called Jump to PGC Upon DVD Insert. This is very smart in that it allows you to "play" the DVD to your main menu (for example), then select the audio menu, select 5.1 and go back to the main menu. It then will allow you to start the disk with those exact settings in place. No need to swap streams in the IFOs.
