    Unable To Join succesfully

I have 2 AVI files about 700 Mb each and i am trying to join them,i have used several programs including Windows Movie Maker.
The problem is always the same:
There is a lack of synchronization between audio and video.Audio seems to precede video.
For example you hear from an actor saying yes but you see it coming out of his mouth 2-3 sec. later.
    Can anyone help me?

i never join avi's this way because of this common and annoying problem. i join them when i author them after being converted to mpeg-2. you'll never get a sync issue this way, and yet a seamless join. now if you want them to stay as avi, that won't help you. i suppose you have tried virtualdub? "append avi segment"? using different start/end points and/or key frames has worked sometimes for me in the past, may have to play around a bit - takes time.
