- PGCEDIT 7.3 - I want to start DVD with Scene Selection Menu

To recap - read up.

After finishing in PgcEdit - Ctrl S to save. Then open in VobBlanker and do task 4. Tick use input folder. Strip the unwanted audio and subbies. Process. Then come back and do it again in VobBlanker, but this time cut the bits out that you don't want. Then finish in PgcEdit by fixing the number of streams.

The state of the streams are still the same, viewable on POWERDVD; see screenshot below. I left the top two VMGM PGCs as you said so they are still playable in POWERDVD.

Note - a stream will not be replaced unless it is omitted from every title in the titleset.

Sorry for bouncing back with more questions in each post but you're talking to a total newbie in DVD editing here!

So how can I OMIT them (unwanted audio + subs) from every title in the titleset? I thought that was dealt with in VOBBLANKER's stripping stage.

Can it be done in STREAM ATTRIBUTES as shown in my last screenshot [MONKEYBONE - STREAM FIXING.jpg]? Can I delete/omit them through here? I haven't done anything yet, just want be be clear with what steps to take next.

Yes, you can use the deletes in Domain Streams Atts. PgcEdit should tell you they are unneeded anyway when you right click on title 1.

VobBlanker doesn't take them out of the streams list.

By the way, it is good practice to leave stream 1 in (you have kept stream 2 only) as many remotes have difficulty cycling thru without a stream 1. The alternative is to switch the positions of the streams and the calls to that stream number in the VM commands, but that can be tedious.

Give it a go - but do an incremental backup in PgcEdit first.

I assume at this point, the junk streams have been removed by the VOBBLANKER & I did gain some space.

I tried to do delete list in Stream Attributes but I got a warning message saying the VOBs will not be reduced or something so I decided NOT to do that at the moment.

I think I would like to have a go at switching positions of the streams & "calls" (or did you meant "cells"?).

How do I do this? Is it:
- dbl click movie's PGC to get PGC Editor
- click Audio VOB's Stream 0 & alter it to 1, click Set
- click Audio VOB's Stream 1 & alter it to 0, click Set
- Go to Streams Attributes & do what needs to be done
- Save DVD

To be on safe side, I want to do a new VIDEO_TS in different folder rather than overwriting it. How do I to Export DVD in PGCEDIT?

I chose 2nd audio track (2.0) cos it's smaller in size & I don't have a home theatre system, just 29" Flat screen TV!

In the future for other DVDs, I would like to keep 1st (English) & 3rd or 4th subtitle track (my home country's language) of a DVD. Will this be simple?

Look on the PgcEdit site - there's a guide on on stream moving by UncasMS. It is also referred to in the FAQ and guidex index in the sticky in this forum. Have a look around - there's usually a guide.

I can not teach you VM command programming.

You can access the "stream status" values referred to by 2COOL's guides with PgcEdit, but it's a lot easier: they are decoded for you. Double click on the PGC to open the PGC Editor. The stream status are represented by the audio and subpic buttons in the top part of the PGC Editor.
If you want to copy/paste all stream status at once, you can access an hidden edit menu by right-clicking on the background around the buttons.

It is also a lot simpler to remove an unused stream, with the Domain Stream Attributes dialog. The stream is not removed from the VOB files, and will therefore be unreferenced. If you have physically removed a stream but its reference is still in the IFOs, you can delete it easily with PgcEdit. But take care: as blutach said, you will have to fix the VM commands.

To learn VM command programming, have a look at DVD Replica. There are many ads for their book, but there is still some valuable free info.

You might also be interested in the DVDShrink plugin. It has a function to verify if a stream can be "remapped" safely with DVDShrink. If it's the case, it is also relatively simple to modify the VM commands manually when you have deleted a stream. But when the DVD Shrink remapping option must be avoided, it is usually difficult to fix the VM commands, because they are indirect, and you have to understand the logic of the proclamation of the DVD.

Streaming sorted but ....

Hi fellas.

Ok, I sorted the streams in PGCEDIT.

To complete my mission, I need to rid of the the 2 remaining PGCs in VMGM. Blutach said not to touch them during TASK 1- 6.

The 2 things are just animated into to main menu & the animated main menu itself.

I've finished everything else, so now what do I now "before" moving on to the 2nd DVD & DVD MERGING in DVDREMAKE PRO?

I can almost see da light at the end of the tunnel ........ ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Which PGCs exactly do you wish to get rid of? By identifier please?

If you are talking about VMGM 1, and 2 these are your title and main menu. Without a title menu, that button will be meaningless on your remote. As well, what if you wish to go back to the menu during playback? But, you can revert to what you did originally.

Incrementally backup first. Then, Ctrl-K for kill playback and select a button that will automatically execute every time these PGCs are entered. OK and save. There will be no further need for VMGM menus VOBs, so you can safely remove them with Ctrl-Del afterwards. Save and test.

Last 2 PGCs in VMGM, Main Menu &amp; Audio Channels reduction

Yeah those 2 PGCs in VMGM.

If going from playback or Scene Selection to Main Menu, I was planning on going to the MAIN MENU that DVDREMAKE PRO creates when you do DVD Merging there [as requested for Task 7].

I hope I make more sense this time.

Other than that, I would like to move on to the 2nd DVD then DVD Merging.

Speaking of DVD Merging, can DVD2ONE do a similar job of merging DVDs & create a menu show all the movies on the disc?

Also, can you PHYSICALLY reduce the audio channels in PGC Editor and/or Stream Atrributes from 5.1 to 2.0 Stereo [not for the MONKEYBONE DVD as it got a 2.0 already, for other titles]? As said before, just to reduce some space.

See post 3 in this thread. To physically reduce channels, if that 2.0 channel stream is not present, you will need ot transcode the audio to 2.0 with BeSweet/beLight - see the FAQ on this.

DVD REMAKE PRO DVD Merging Errors

Hi

Finished with EACH movie (via PGCEDIT & VOBBLANKER), now I tried to merged the 3 films.

After importing each one & saving each individually. As you can guess, lots of red-marked items.

I've enclosed a scan of the merged DVD. Please help me to fix them!
