I capture "big"mpg2 files with WinTv. I wanna a freeware program that I can easily {like NOOB easy} author a plain-jane dvd with a simple menu. Easy and quick. I've tried Tmpg DVD whatever, Ulead, and others........I find it terribly difficult and it takes forever to make them. Isn't the point of recording the mpg2 dvd compliant file so that authoring is easy?
EASY mpg2 to dvd?

Alright..........I'm having problems right off the bat. (However it could mean the problem has been isolated to my capturing with WinTv)
Anyways, i tried using the same mpg2 I captured with WinTv in TMPGEnc dvd author. It tells me = *This is an illegal video file
This is an illegal video file.
For DVD-Video you can only use the following video formats:
MPEG-1 Video, MPEG-2 Video
This is odd considering WinTv is capturing mpg2s dvd format.
Here is the video file properties =

can u post a screentshot of the file information in virtualdubmod? this usually means that TMPGEnc doesn't see this as standard mpeg-2. perhaps you could also download the trial of TMPGEnc plus and do a test to isolate the problem? i don't use wintv, so there may be a setting causing this.Last edited by LT. Trashsmasher,
Are you using the WinTV 2000 capture software?
If so, what bitrate setting are you using?
Check out this thread, maybe something in there will be of help for you.
I just got the Happauge WinTV PVR 150 Media Center Edition and am going to use it to convert our VHS collection to DVD and also to watch and record TV to my PC. Any suggestions and/or tips from those that have installed and used this PVR? I have heard that it might be better to download drivers from the Happauge website ratherMBK
