Ripping a SRT

I don't know why, but for a particular movie, when I use SubRip to make an SRT file of the subs, it confuses lowercase i and uppercase I when it is in italics. This really messes the movie up, because I then run the I and l conversion so it differentiates between the two and I get words like "begglnlng" etc.

Any suggestions? I don't feel like changing it by hand... that would take too long. Maybe another OCR program?

Try ripping with Vobsub and then convert the sub file into srt using Subresync.See if it helps.

a known problem, not subrip's fault. there is a function specifically to correct it in such DVD's. check post ocr spelling correction (or something like that, iirc) after ripping, works quite well

anon, that's for I and l. the i and I thing turns them all into l, I tried it.

You can also import the text file in a good editor with a spelling checker, and run it. You will quickly find and fix (almost) all problems.
I like UltraEdit32, but it is not free.

Nah this is because I lied to my parents about something and they were all "ZOMG WE CAN'T TRUST YOU" ... I can't even stay home alone, they drag me along everywhere. If only they knew I was using these school computers to do what I usually do at home... too bad I can't copy DVDs here too LOL
