Can someone explain these files and why they wont/do work?

    HI
when I use some software for backups, some programs place these files and some do not:

    Video_TS 6kb ISO File

    and

    VTS_01_0 62kb ISO File

The programs that DONT add the VIdeo TS file 6KB wont work for me to backup nor play in DVD played on computer.

If its not there, I cant use the whole backup without this file.

Why do some of these programs create this file and some do not?
And why is this Video_TS 6kb file so important.

I tried to read about these files here but dont understand.

    thank you.

Are you positive its not a "IFO" file and not a "ISO" file?

      What software are you using?
What movie(s) are you talking about.
Do you get error messages. If so what are they.
You need to give alot more specific info in order to help you.

          hi.
          sorry for being vague.

Using DVD Decrypter it DID NOT...make the Video TS IFO 6kb file.

Using DVD Fab, It DID make this file.

I dont understand the importance of such a small file when Its not there.....nothing seems to play in succession.

I have to click each VTS file to continue the movie if this Video_TS IFO 6kb file is not there.
When it is there, I do NOT have to click each individual VTS file. They all play as one movie, without it, its all separated.

Is that helpful to you to help me understand the importance of this small file?

          thnx.

IFO stands basically for information, like it contains info on how the disk is structured. Without it, your toast.

Did you use file mode in DVD Decryper and selecting all files?

The VIDEO_TS.IFO file gives the player important navigational information, like where a chapter starts, where a certain audio or subtitle stream is located, etc.

That is why it won't work if the file is not there.

                  Hi.
I just selected main movie......is this why this imp. file is not in the finished product?
I just want the main movie, not all the rest.

However DVD Fab is soooooooo much faster and worked well.

                  thnx

Wow, thats awesome info to learn there, thank you!
I understand this all better now.

SO I need that file of course but on DVD Decrypter as Cynthia asked me, is it best to choose ALL in the file mode so this IFO file gets copied ?
cause I only picked Main Movie.
maybe thats why the video_ts ifo didnt show up in the final.

                        Yes, choose "All" files.

However, some of the newer movies are being released with a new type of copyright protection that even DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0 can't handle.

I highly recommend you use RipIt4Me. You can download it <a href="http://www.digital-digest.com/software/RipIt4Me.html" target="_blank">here</a>. <a href="http://www.digital-digest.com/articles/ri4me_guide_page1.html" target="_blank">Here</a> is a animated tutorial on how to use it.

And yes, ripping only the main movie files is why it wasn't there.

                        And thank you jamo!
