Delaying AC3 Audio

Hi

I slowed down a video from 25fps to NTSC, and can mux with muxman. I have an NTSC audio source, since I have the NTSC DVD as well (I used TMPGEnc and AVISynth to convert, so I have a m2v file.)

The audio matches the video fine, however it goes ahead of the video. The maximum delay muxman lets you use is 300. 300 seems to work a little bit but I probably need more than 500.

Is there another freeware muxing program I can set a delay of more than 300ms?



ALSO, can I delay subtitles? If not I can manually retweak my timings.

300 is the maximum allowable under the DVD standard. Have you also converted the audio to NTSC? You need to do that, too before muxing. Use BeSweet.

using DGPulldown with TMPGEnc for that .m2v never produces audio problems.

OK, I have a slowed down audio.

Like I said, I have both the PAL and NTSC version. Unfortunately the PAL one suffers from PAL Speedup.

I thus used AssumeFPS to slow it back down.
So all I need to do is shift the audio over. Can BeSweet do that without having to encode to WAV and then back to AC3?

Is there a way to delay subtitles? They are way ahead of the audio even, due to the 300 delay of audio.

Something like 450 would probably fix the problem, there is no "legal" way to do that?

Subtitles can be delayed lots. Just add the required delay to the mux. Even easier is to use DVDSubEdit to move them exactly where you want them.

MuxMan had no delay option for the subtitles.

And how would I delay more than 300ms? Can BeSweet do that?

Not for audio. 300ms is THE MAXIMUM.

You should use Delaycut to fit your audio for muxman

After authoring you can do it with DVDsubedit in one go.

IFO Edit (freeware) can also author the video, audio (with or without time delay) subtitles, chapters.

TMPGEnc Plus is also great for building the m2v file at:
NTSC pulldown at 23.976 fps
PAL at 25.000 fps
Normal NTSC at 29.976 fps
if you input the d2v file

If you have the VOBS you can create the video m2v file and AC3 audio without compression using DGIndex and author with IFO edit and the video and audio will be in synth.

I made the M2V.

Blutach, what I meant was, can I alter the actual .AC3 file so that it's delayed, so I can use it in MuxMan? I just do not want to have to make a WAV, as it is 5.1 channel.

Problem solved.

I opened the original DVD, and the TMPGEnc outcome in VDub, and found that the movie started at frame 4 in the original, but frame 30 on the new one. That's about a 1 second difference, or a delay of 1000.

So I just used Trim in the AVS script I used to make the times match.

And thanks bigotti5 for that. I thought I saw some discussions by mpucoder on this saying 300 was the maximum. It is an awful lot anyway.
