Getting Previews to Play B4 Main Menu

I have many movies that have all the previews in their own domain and can only be called up with the [Preview] button in the Main Menu.

I want some of these previews to play in the beginning before the Main Menu comes up and get rid of the rest and hide the preview button.

A movie I'm working on right now has NO previews B4 the Main Menu, but it has 7 in the [Previews] domain. I want 3 of them to play when you insert the DVD, before the Main Menu.

I have done this in PgcEdit by stepping in trace mode. But it is a long and painstaking procedure (probably cause I'm not real familiar with all the commands). But I get it to work after 4,8,16 or more hours.

Is there an easier way or a guide relating to this senerio?

Using the trace mode is not easy in this case. Well, I haven't tried it as I reauthor manually. In general, since the previews are in their own domain, create a duplicate PGC with reused V/CID and a new TTN and Title # (use PGC -> Clone current PGC). Adjusting navigation and adding some commands are necessary to redirect the flow. How easy this is depends on the DVD structure.

It's best that you post the IFOs and shrinked menu VOB without audio (use MenuShrink). Describe which preview in which VTS you want to play in the right order. Either I or someone will take a look.

My sister likes previews.

Excuse my ignorance, but I've never used MenuShrink yet. I'll have to read a guide (if there is one) before I can attempt your suggestion.

I'm sorry, I'm gettin really confused here.

How do I post IFOs and shrinked menu VOB when they are not supported as attachments?

Also when I processed the VOB in MenuShrink, I don't know where it saved it and I'm not even sure I processed the right VOB.

I did the very first one (VIDEO_TS.VOB).

Zip them up. If too big, send them to a filesharing service like verizon or rapidshare.

The shrunk menu VOBs are in your project folder (they end in 0.VOB and also VIDEO_TS.VOB). Once zipped up, you can restore your menushrink backup and your original menus will be restored.

1. Right-click on VTS4, 1 TTN 1 and select "Clone PGC". Click OK and Yes at the prompt. A duplicate PGC is created with Title 11.
2. Repeat step 1 for VTS5, 1 TTN 1. A duplicate PGC is created with Title 12.
3. Repeat step 1 for VTS7, 1 TTN 1. A duplicate PGC is created with Title 13.
4. Right-click on any VMGM, LU 1 PGC and select "New Dummy PGC". Click Yes at the prompt.
5. Repeat step 4 again. You should have created 2 dummy VMG PGCs 3 & 4.
6. In First-Play PGC, pre-commands, change line 1 to (JumpTT) Jump to Title 11.
7. In VMGM, LU 1 (en), 3, pre commands, change line 1 to (JumpTT) Jump to Title 12.
8. In VMGM, LU 1 (en), 4, pre-commands, change line 1 to (JumpTT) Jump to Title 13.
9. In VTS4, 2 TTN 2, post-commands, change line 1 to (CallSS) Call VMG PGC 3, resume cell 1. (In Command Editor, select Alphabetically ->CallSS-VMGM-pgc)
10. In VTS5, 2 TTN 2, post-commands, change line 1 to (CallSS) Call VMG PGC 4, resume cell 1.
11. In VTS7, 2 TTN 2, post-commands, change line 1 to (CallSS) Call VMG PGC 2, resume cell 1.
12. Save and test.

You can press Root menu at any time during any 3 previews and it should bring you to the Main Menu.

Now I can kill the originals right.

Just a thought... Couldn't I have deleted all commands in the original pgc's and inserted the commands you gave me in steps 9 - 11? Instead of cloning.

You could, but then it won't work if you select these previews in the Previews menu. If you intend to hide the Preview button and blank the Previews menu, then it would work without the cloning part.
