Titlewriter 3.0, Can't get DVD_TEXT right.

OK, I must be doing something wrong.

I have a Sony Jukebox player and all I'm trying to do is add the DVD title as the DVD_TEXT for my Jukebox to see it. I copy a DVD using CloneDVD2 and then run Titlewriter 3.0. I open the ripped video data, go to the "Menu Text" area, and change the Volume Name from the default "DVDVolumeName" to what I want the title to be and then click "Save Changes". I exit Titlewriter and use CloneDVD2 to burn the DVD from that data. I've done this about a dozen times and I've had my Sony DVD player see the text two times out of twelve. I tried changing the Title 1 section also to no avail. I must be doing something wrong since everyone says this software works well for this purpose.

Since it has worked two times, I don't see it being a hardware issue. The other odd thing, if I use Titlewriter to look at any DVD that already has DVD_TEXT info, IT DOES NOT SEE IT. It says it's creating dummy info since the DVD contains no DVD_TEXT, even though it clearly does since my jukebox player sees it. This is even true of the DVDs that I did successfully create DVD_TEXT on using Titlewriter.

Any ideas?

Pls zip up Video_ts.ifo here from a DVD where you Know there is DVD_Text and TW can't see it -- I need to see This!!!

I don't have a single DVD title that has text that is detected by Titlewriter. I can point it directly to the DVD drive and I get the expected unable to create an undo, and then no DVD_TEXT found message. I bring up the VIDEO_TS.IFO file in Notepad and don't see any of the title information either, so if it's there it's not plain text. I have Polar Express, Harry Potter, the Muppets take Manhatten, and The Return of the King Extended Edition that I know of that don't seem to have any text detected by Titlewriter.

Either I'm doing something really stupid or there is something really weird going on.

It must be something in my process because even if I just do a straight copy of everything, the DVD_TEXT info is lost. I'm lost. Anyone else here using CloneDVD2?

No the Video_ts is in a rigidly formated Hex form not ascii -- DVDText is written in that file (in the simpliest case 8192 bytes (characters into the file))

Most Commercial dvd's do not contain ANY DVD_Text

Again Pls Zip up the Video_ts.ifo file for a compiliation where you have added DVD_Text but prior to any other action/tool/burning -- then I can help

And possibly the Video_ts.ifo after clonedvd2 does its thing

Most transcoders/Tools remove DVDText info during processing (DVDShrink for ex.) -- TW is the Last step

I just use Imgburn and dvdshrink, And occasionally menushrink -- KISS

Just a quick update for anyone else that may run across this problem. It seems to be entirely a problem with ConeDVD2. It does not copy the VIDEO_TS.IFO correctly and therefore drops the DVD_TEXT info on the burn process. I used Roxio DVD creator and it worked fine.

Thats why I use Imgburn -- No surprises WYSIWYG
