PgcEdit v8.0 Beta 7 - Calimari's thread

I'm playing around with PgcEdit v8.0 Beta 7, which - as blutah said - has a function to search for uncalled PGC's. This function lets you know which PGC's are never played, without the need to watch the whole dvd in de virtual player. It also has a funtion to auto-delete them.
I do it this way: I search for uncalled Pgc's, then I check the playtime/size of them. If they're 00:00 or very small, I just leave them. I have noticed that most uncalled PGC's that I find, are already dummies created by RipIt4Me.

Since the day I discovered PgcEdit, I don't use DVD Remake Pro anymore.
It's not free, it's a heavy application and in my last DVD Remake Pro days, I had a few non-compliant outputs from it.

Guide needs some refining sice r0lZ has automated a few things. All of those dummy RipIt4Me PGCs in VTST can be safely eliminated.

I did a 'delete uncalled Pgc's' in PgcEdit. Then I ran FixVTS and when FixVTS had finished, re-opening the DVD in PgcEdit gave me several warnings like this:



I also got a warning to check for 'Jumps to nowhere', giving me this result:



It seems the deleted Pgc's are still present in the Title Play Map Table, and IfoEdit is needed to fix this, or can I just ignore it?

And what about the jumps to nowhere? Why are there jumps to deleted PGC's or titles that have been classified as 'uncalled' before?

That's strange, indeed. Which version have you used? There are some bugs in the early betas.
Anyway, try to undo the backup. Leaving the DVD as it is now is dangerous.

I was trying out the latest beta: v8.0 beta 7. I was just trying out some things, I'm not going to burn the DVD in this stage.

rOLZ, the info is on its way. It seems that not the deleted pgc's are causing troubles, but their is a nasty side-effect to VTS14 after deleting the uncalled pgc's and FixVTS'ing. I'm looking for a way to delete the uncalled pgc"s by hand, one by one, to determine where the problem occurs. Can dis be done in PgcEdit?

Are there 2 sets of buttons anywhere?

To do a one-by-one approach, do an Info - Find Uncalled PGCs and see what's pink.

Then rearrange so all the pinks are at the end of the domain (use the Domain - Remap PGCs function).

Then delete one by one (Domain - delete last PGC in domain) and check for jumps to nowhere after each delete.

The procedure to delete the uncalled PGCs manually is brilliantly explained by blutach is his great guide.

Note that the problem you reported is undoubtedly related to the VMG Title Play Map table. So, it's a good idea to verify that table after each operation.

I was initially looking for a way to delete the pgc's without remapping them first, but it I will follow blutah's excellent guide to do it.
I'll do it step-by-step, and do a FixVTS after each step to find out where it goes wrong in the Title Play Map Table.

Blutah, I don't think there are mulitiple sets of buttons. At least, I didn't notice any during playback, how can I be sure of this? I have the option ticked in PgcEdit to look for multiple sets of BOV's in the Find BOV's window that starts when loading a DVD.

Anyway, I'm at the office now so this will be a job for tonight.
rOLZ, let me know if you want more info or try-outs on that specific disc.

No need for FixVTS after each step - the IFO modification is sufficient thru PgcEdit.

To find multiple button sets, go Ctrl-M in each menu PGC that has video. PgcEdit will tell you. Or do a trace, remembering to click sip before selecting buttons.

PgcEdit should warn you if you use any function that needs to build the cross-reference file and some multiple sets of buttons have been detected. Among those functions is Delete Uncalled PGCs, and Find Uncalled PGCs. Therefore, you do not need to check each menu independently.

Also, I am confident that the problem is not related to commands not being taken into account. It's a problem when the Title Play Map table is rebuilt after a Remap Title Numbers, remap PGCs, Remap Titlesets, or Reorder TTNs. All those functions are called when necessary by Delete Uncalled PGCs. However, I don't understand why PgcEdit fails, as it works fine with all the tests I've made so far (with beta 7 or the unreleased beta 8.)

I just did Delete Uncalled Pgc's without any problems on The Fast And The Furious Tokyo Drift.

The problem disc, Over The Hedge, uses 237 language units in VTS14. This VTS is used as a sort of presentation of still images (the creating of the creatures). After deleting uncalled pgc's and FixVTS, I receive warnings about non existing TTN's. The Title Play Map Tables before and after this process show that those problematic TTN's are incorrectly renumbered.
Is it a coincidence that these wrong TTN numbers all are way to high, but all under 237, the last one even being exactly 237?
It looks like there is some confusion between LU number and TTN number.
