tying to combine 4 different dvd files

Hi all i have 4 dvd vidoes i am trying to combine into one dvd. this was taken from a dvd camera of my daughters concert. I used the in from: http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...ht=multi-title

however the sound is out of sync. and it gives me part of the video as main and most of it as unspecified. any help or ideas would be great. thanks in advance.

Use ProjectX to demux audio and video.
Personally, I would use DVD Maestro to make my own dvd; including a simple menu. Once the dvd is finished, any transcoding/re-encoding backup program can shrink it to DVD5.

Often, video and audio go out of sync due to errors in the audiostream when they are demuxed.
Bad frames aren't replaced, so the audio track gets shorter.
ProjectX is designed for demuxing streams out of capturing devices, it handles audio problems very well and keeps video and audio in sync.

ok what i did was run the 5 vob files only that were striped using dvdshrink trough projectx and got 2 new files a ac3 file which is sound and a m2v file whick is large. now im not sure what to do next to get this project going. im new to this editing and want to learn. thanks

? strange, I always thought ProjectX couldn't demux from multiple files. I always use IfoEdit to strip, and set VOB size to 'no split.' This will leave you with one big VOB, which can be easily demuxed by ProjectX.

Anyway, IfoEdit has a basic author new dvd function. Insert your ac3 and your m2v in it and it will create a dvd of it, full automatic. You don't have to worry about subtitles and chapters this time, it's just experimental and you can check if your m2v and ac3 were kept in sync.

Search for the latest stable IfoEdit: 0.96

Oh, and don't worry about encoding an m2v, just use the one you've demuxed. Your dvd initially can have a size bigger than 4.3GB but after it's finished, you can use known tools like DVD Shrink to make it fit on a single layer DVD disc whenever you wanna burn it.

yea I just added all the vobs in projectx and hit quickstart. anyway i found ifoedit .971 and mand new dvd with your sugustion. the audio is in sync however now i am getting video jumps. not shure what caused that. wonder if it ifoedit doing it. I will check the m2v file and see if i get jumps. thanks for all the help guys.

ok i viewed the m2v file and it has video jurks. so it must be projectx that is creating them. when i ran the program at the end it said -> we have 886 warnings/errors. what could cause this?? i checked the video for the strip and it is fine there is no video jitters. this is a little bit of output i got and this shows some errors

ProjectX always gives warnings, that's normal. It means it found errors and correted them.
But, as I said, you should try to make one big vob before starting ProjectX.
I believe you have 4 dvd's to start with. Start with one, load the first VTS_XX_0.IFO in IfoEdit, not the VIDEO_TS.IFO. Then go to VOB Extras - strip streams and set VOB size to 'no split'. Click OK and in the next window, select your streams, it's OK to select all. Then strip. You'll have a big VOB file now. Demux it with ProjectX, and build a DVD again with IfoEdit. You'll end with what you started: a DVD, but it should solve the sync problems.
Repeat this with the other 3, then go on with your initial guide.
Once you succeeded this, I suggest you play around with DVD Maestro, this gives you unlimited possibilities.

Oh, and search for IfoEdit 0.96 (latest stable version). You have a beta now.

hmmm correct me if im wrong but what you sugested will fix problems with the original 4 dvd files i created? well the problem is not in the 4 original dvds they ply perfect with no sync problems and not video jitters. the problem happens after i combine the vobs. with vobedit it will not make one big vob. it makes them into 1gig size. Im thinking if i can find a program that will make one vob of all vobs then run trough projectx it might work anyway i found a copy of Spruce DVD Maestro 2.9 but havent figured out how to run it.

Correct. The original vob's may play fine. The problem can occur when the streams are stripped out of the vob's to author a new dvd, like you did with DVD Shrink. DVD Shrink builds new vob's, so I guess the streams are stripped first. When running them through ProjectX first, you're sure the audio and video stay in sync (have the same lentgh). Look at is a sort of restore, before you start the further edting/authoring.
I assume the audio starts in sync, and runs out of sync during playback? That means the audio and video track have different lengths.
If the sync problem exists from the beginning and never changes, it's an offset problem, that's easy to correct.

Worth a try. But I think that won't change the sync problem which occurs when re-authoring a new dvd. No matter how the vob's were merged, if the audio stream is corrupt, sync problems will occur when the audio is stripped out of the vob to build a new vob. Manually demux audio and video with ProjectX from one big vob is the only solution IMO. It's aesy to author 4 new dvd's then with IfoEdit, and from that point he can start with what he was trying to do.

new problem has come up not shure why this is doing this. when i go to origanal strip from dvd shrink output and open ifoedit and try and strip like you sujusted it only does one chapter. the first dvd striped has 5 chapters.

it is strange I can get the video and audio to sync with project x but i get anoying video jerks that were not there befor i used project x is there a setting that will make project x not deleat stuff it finds as erors??. the origanal video has no jerks they are created when i demux wiht projectx??

ProjectX doesn't delete stuff on errors (that makes it different from other demuxers). That would create different lengths of audio and video. It's designed specific to handle errors in DVB capturing (mpeg2) but it can be used for vob files (dvd, also mpeg 2). If it find errors, it replaces the bad frames with - to put it simple - dummies. But usually, these errors are so small that the human ear / eye won't notice a difference. If your video shows stuttering, jumping, etc... there must be another problem.

i have been searching all over the forum foh help with this project about audio out of sync. i went back to the first steps i tryed and got the same problem of audio out of sync when i burn the dvd. so i desided to check the files i created. when i click on the ifo in my dvd player on mycomputer it wont play the movie. but when i click on the vob it opens and plays perficly with audio in sync. so i guess my problem is in the comand structure in the ifo files. what could i use to fix this?
