    help!

I know how to use vobblanker to remove stuff i dont need like deleted scenes,commentary,ect........but what i dont know how to do is(which is what i need to do to this one)how to remove stuff thats been interleaved into the video.....im using dvdshrink and in the main movie title screen it says title 1,2,4,9-36...can some one tell me how the heck to get the non assencial stuff out of this....when i open it with vobblanker i see 2 streams which i assume is the widescreen and fullscreen version......one is 2:34:15 and the other stream is 2:17:02.....now im assuming here that the larger one is the one i want to keep because its the extended version also. When i tried removing the other stream it just removed like 20 megs....what am i doing wrong?

VobBlanker does not work with Interleaved material.

If interleaved, they will not be widescreen and fullscreen - they might be different angles though or different versions.

Use IfoEdit to get ridda ILVUs (Vob Extras button)

Load the movie's IFO up in Ifoedit. Press VOB Extras. Tick remove IVLU/Angle point.

When loading your VTS_XX_0.IFO in IfoEdit and angle/ILVU are present, those boxes will be available in the VOB Extras screen (angle / seamless branching). Otherwise they're greyed out . Pick your angle or title and IfoEdit will set the right settings in its options section.
You're not talking about Independence Day, are you? I did that movie once, it had the theater version and the director's cut, the second being about 10 minutes longer than the first (can't remember exactly). I was succesful with IfoEdit to strip one out, but I also managed to do the full movie with DVD Shrink (stripping unwanted audio tracks out, than use DVD Rebuilder to Shrink it to DVD5). So, unless you're doing movie only, why not leaving both versions in the backup? As they use common material, there's only a little bit extra info that has to be in the backup.

Leaving both titles in it won't make a big difference, as only the extra time of the longest title will be taken in count (probably those 20 megs). When quality is your concern, I suggest you don't use DVD Shrink, but DVD Rebuilder instead. DVD-RB works with Cinema Craft Encoder but also comes with a few free encoders, which deliver pretty good quality.

That's probably because you didn't select a title to be kept, so nothing has to be stripped and you're passed on to the audio/sub window. If you do pick one title, the next window in IfoEdit will show you the cells that will be stripped out, IfoEdit selects them for you, just accept and move on to the audio/sub window.

I use v0.96 as this was the last stable version of IfoEdit. I don't have experience with 0.971 so I won't make a statement on it.

Not sure if I am correct cos I don't have an ILVed DVD right now to test, but I think IfoEdit can only remove ILV cells in a single multi-angles title. In this case, there are probably two titles with different contents (aka multi-story titles.)

To remove them, you have to blank one title with PgcEdit (or remove it completely, but that's more difficult.) To blank out a title, right-click on it in the left pane and select Kill Playback. Accept the offer to blank it.
And you have also to remove the ILV information from the other title, or VobBlanker will complain. That can be made easily from the PGC Editor with the Del Angle function, or with Jsoto's DelAngle tool.

ok....im a slow learner....lol......but i have figured out what you guys were saying but now i have another prob.......when i opent the dvd in ifoedit i scroll down the page in the lower window and i see two pgc's.......pgc1 is 2:34 and pgc2 is 2:17..both are showing me ilvu's....now i know the larger pgc is the directors cut and the smaller pgc is the original cut..my question now is what do i do with them?.....do i8 remove the ilvu's from the larger one and delete playback on the smaller one?...or do i remove the ilvu's on both?.

Im sorry to be a pain guys but i wanna make sure i get this right..plus learning something new is a good thing...lol

P.S I wanna keep the directors cut and omit the original.

You cannot Delete Playback with IfoEdit on a title, as it produces an illegal PGC that crashes on ALL players! (Delete Playback is safe only on menu PGCs.)

Use PgcEdit's Kill Playback as explained below.
                      1. Right-click on the shorter title (PGC 1) and select Kill Playback. Accept the option to replace the cells.
                      2. Double-click on the director cut (PGC 2) to open the PGC editor. Click on the "Del Angle" button, and read the warning. (Since you have already done step 1, it should be safe to continue.)
                      3. Close the PGC Editor with OK, and save the DVD.
                      4. Process both titles with VobBlanker. (No need to select cells to blank: the cells that are now useless will be automatically dropped.)

I have been doing more research on interleaved video and i dont know if this makes a difference in what your telling me to do but i have found that the dvd i have does not have one complete title....aka....pgc1=1 2 3 4 5 6 7.....both titles are odd and even numbered....so both pgc's rely on the other for the missing vob id's....i know im not being very articulate but i hope you understand what im saying.

                          That's exactly a multi-story title.
Go on and follow my instructions. Don't worry; the cells that are present in the two stories (ie theatre and director cut versions) will not be deleted.
If you don't trust me, do a backup of your backup first.

As explained above, the multi-story trick allows to add or remove some stuff from a story to build another one. The difference might be very insignificant to very large. Therefore, the gain depends of the original DVD.

Also, don't forget to process the DVD with VobBlanker first, or the unused cells will still be present in the VOBs, and Shrink will place them in the "unreferenced material" section. Of course, you can shrink the unreferenced stuff much more that the rest of the DVD and remove the audio and subpic streams as that stuff will never be played anyway, but it is largely more efficient to remove it completely with VB.
