convert a .mpg file to Video_TS.IFO

Please help, I have a capture card in my PC and I just captured a movie from my sat. dish that I want to burn to DVD. I have the movie as a .mpg file and I want to convert it so I will have the Video_TS.IFO folder that I can then open with DVD Shrink or DVD Rebuilder if possible. The reason I am doing this is beacause I don't like the output from the Sonic software as the "fit to DVD" isn't an option. I think if I use Shrink with DA + AEC or DVD-RB my output will me better. I am looking for a free program to convert that doesn't have the watter mark or the 10 day trial limit. I would love some free ware with no limitaions, kinda like what shrink gives us for DVD's.

    Thanks in advance everyone!!!

projectX to demux the mpg to elementary streams, then ifoedit or muxman to author. you can then run the folder through shrink

      mpg to DVD conversion

      Perhaps this helps:

      It's free.
Its bigger brother SVCD2DVD (donationware) converts almost everything to DVD without doing unnecessary re-coding that may introduce quality loss.

... or this may also help:

It's a free authoring toll. But don't ask me for advice because I did not really try it.

anonymez, projectX has me very confused with all the java stuff. I downloasded Java SDK and installed it but am having trouble with the bin file and setting path for Java_home. Very confusing.

Sharc, tried to use SVCD2VVDMPEG 1.1 but it tells me my .mpg isn't valid and the help file doesn't work and I don't see a guide online.

          Any ideas?

          Thanks.

what you'd want is the java runtime environment (JRE), not SDK (that's for devs). get it here http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

extract projectX, run the .jar. add your mpg file, hit prepare, hit play.

Or download the compiled ProjectX :
Download ProjectX_090.4.00.zip free. File size 20MB. Direct download link.

              This runs directly under windows.

Thanks everyone, I used Calimaris compiled projectX, then authored with DVDAuthorGUI, I used DVD Shrink with DA+AEC 87% and also made a version with DVD-RB HCenc best setting 82%. I couldn't see the diff. between the two programs. Might be my capture method since I used the RF output from my Sat. receiver. This is the setup I have since the PC is a Media Center and with Media Center the video looks good eventhough the signal is from a RF cable. I might run the SVIDEO + Audio into the capture card next time.

                Thanks everyone.
