PgcEdit v8.0, Beta 15 Nice new feature

Like how the app now asks if you want to Rebuild the Time Maps - instead of doing it automatically on save.

Also: Seems some work was done on the Delete Uncalled PGCs function as after executing it in beta8 on a recent project I had to deal with 5 manually. Upon getting that AND checking on a new beta; I exited out without saving and installed & ran beta15 on the same project files, deleting the uncalled pgcs and removed them all cleanly...

I also love the Delete Uncalled PGCs. I have used it on the last 3 or so DVDs. Leaving them squeaky clean.

Also don't forget the Jump to PGC. This can actually eliminate even more uncalled PGCs.

I think I remember him saying that when you use the Jump to PGC feature (following blutachs guide), you can then run the DVD through FixVTS. This will remove all the crap between the start and the menu right, since PgcEdit blanked (??) it?

No. What it removes is extraneous commands, which might lead to more uncalled PGCs. If so, then the Delete Uncalled PGCs function will remove them and then a FixVTS (various Current Domains) might yield you some more space.

I'll release v8 final soon, but I want to be completely sure it is (almost) bug free. BTW, I've just fixed a little problem in Delete Uncalled PGCs. It is not very important, but currently, be sure to scan for BOVs each time PgcEdit warns you about unscanned BOVs (unless you are sure that there are no BOVs in the DVD.)

And blutach is right. Jump2PGC doesn't remove anything. It just jumps directly to the target PGC. If you want to regain some disc space, you should use Delete Uncalled PGCs, and also, in some cases, blank the skipped PGCs manually (with Kill Playback or Blank-Out PGCs in Domain.)

You can also 'create' uncalled pgc's. I mean, after ripping/blanking/cleaning sometimes you see different pgc's containing the same pre/postcommands and no video. So you can search all calling commands of them, and then change them to only point to one pgc. The rest will be marked as 'uncalled' the next time you run delete uncalled pgc's.
Second: warnings/logo's/trailers etc. that you blank, can also be skipped by searching their calling commands, then change those commands and point forward to skip stuff. Of course, all pre/postcommands have to be respected.

All this is a little time consuming, but when you do it right, you end up with a much cleaner output. PgcEdit provides everything you need to do this, including warnings when you do something wrong. It's also a good way to learn more about dvd structure.

I use also that method to clean some very confuse DVDs, such as the disney releases, with lot of useless commands, PGCs and VTSs. Unfortunately, the method is still somewhat complex for the average user.

It is. But everybody has to start somewhere. For those who wanna know more about dvd, like me, PgcEdit is an excellent guide during this discovery. It won't hurt to try some things out, when a backup is made regulary.
The warnings in PgcEdit are really excellent, they're a lot more educative than reading static sites about dvd structure. Trying things, even screw up things, you'll remember. Reading things, you'll forget, or in my case: fall asleep after 5 minutes
