Titlewriter 3.1 and two vts titles

I'm trying to use TW 3.1 to add a menu to a dvd with just 2 titles.
To be sure I reauthored the dvd with dvdshrink 3.2 which delivers
    a vts_01_x.vob and vts_02_x.vob (x = 1,2 and 3).
Afterthat I started TW and added a simplemenu for 2 movies and saved the result.

    The result however :
    - Cannot be opened in dvdshrink again, it crashes with a runtime error
    - In powerdvd 5 it will open, but only the first title will display. If I choose the second title on the root menu, powerdvd stops
    - In my dvd player selecting the second title does not work

    Anyone any suggestions ?

Ok, I add some printscreens to.
First I started TW and clicked on DVDshrink and got into reauthor mode :

Then I selected normal mode in Post Transcoding options :

TW responded with this screen :

      After shrink finished :

After selecting then 2 movie simple menu :

After checking add menu's and save :

Power dvd after clicking on play movie 2 :

DVDshrink error at opening then video_ts folder :

Here are the IFO files :

Your method is fine -- Can't see anything blatantly wrong in the ifos-- click undo and try playing -- if it plays (it should) zip up those ifo's (and post) then restart TW and add the menu again. I'll then be able to compare the pre tw ifo's

PS Powerdvd isn't the best player out there -- But that is beside the point as your burned dvd didn't play

First let me thank you for you're help !

I did what you asked me. After undo / save the movie played again, of course without menu. Both titles played fine. I agree that powerdvd is not the best. But even dvdshrink couldn't open the dvd after editting. After undo dvdshrink opens then video_ts folder fine and shows 2 seperate titles.

You can find the IFO's after undo here :

          Thanks, Jan

I've just completed half a dozen variations of 2 movies with generic menu added -- No failures anywhere -- baffling
As far as I can tell from just the ifo's your compiliation is fine

Lets try this I'm pasting a freshly compiled ver of TW here

Open the compiliation in this ver as normal in TW Hit Undo a couple of times (that last set of ifos wasn't completly undone to DVDShrink output (dvdtext was there))
            and readd Menu2Movie
Test -- if failure again zip up all the ifo's and vts_0x_0.vob and video_ts.vob
(essentially this is everything but your movies)

            Something very strange is happening

I still get the same result after the actions you described.

And now to really throw things -- I imported the menu that fails for you (from the ...menuadd.zip folder) and added it to a 2 movie compiliation I made in shrink -- It works fine -- aargh

Its got to be something odd happening in ntsc menus + pal movies checking further

mesa57 -- Could you please make a small 2 movie compiliation using shrink of just these 2 movies (slide the end slider to the left in shrink start/end for each title until they are about a couple of meg in length) and post the entire dvdshrink resultant target folder.

This is really starting to bug me --

                    Ok, thank you.
I made small fragments you can download at :
                    http://pegasus.liberalist.nl/up/VIDEO_TS.zip [70mb]

The originals are also available from usenet.
The nzb for them is here :

Okay now I'm baffled -- the menu Menu2Movie added to the mini compiliation fine -- playback fine and burn fine.

The only other thing I can think of is perhaps the Simplemenus you have are out of date or damaged -- Perhaps try downloading them again

                        I already downloaded Simplemenus + Titlewriter 3 times ...
I tried also adding the menu to the extracted segments.
This is what I observed :
                        - Powerdvd 5 will play the menu. The first segment plays fine. On playing the second segment, just half a second is showed and than the player stops (should normally play longer and then show the menu)
                        - DvdShrink will open the VIDEO_TS, but shows the second title as 'unreferenced material''

I wil try to burn an view the extract on my player tomorrow.
Also I will try an other movie with two tracks.

                        Thanks, Jan

Ok, here are the results :

                          1. Burning the compilation and playing it on my Philips 5140 player resulted in a menu by which I could navigate and play part 1. Selecting movie 2 resulted in displaying a picture for 0.5 second and then the player went into STOP mode. Pretty much the same reaction as powerdvd gives.

                          2. Downloading Simplemenus again and taking an other dvd with 2 titles :
Same results as with the first dvd (one remark : the source of both dvd's was from the same author).

I am very confused that you cannot reproduce this behaviour.
I downloaded simplemenus and titlewriter from http://www.dvdshrink.info/titlewriter/

My computer is a pentium 4, 2.4 Ghz with 1 gb memory and windows XP home SP2 installed.

I am very sadd that this isn't working because there are no other tools available which can add a menu without demux - reprocess and sync subtitles - remux (which takes almost half a day).

By george I think I found it --- A silly typo in the code just legal enough not to cause an error
Undo a few times and use below ver to add the menu
Pls respond if I have fixed it -- I'll need to upload to the site quick

                              YES !!! It works !

The short and full compilation are both working in powerdvd.
Dvdshrink is not giving an error again and does not show the second title in unreferenced material.
After burning the full dvd with menu the philips player plays both tracks without any glitch. Subtitles / 16:9 format are preserved as in the original.

Thank you !!! I am going to enjoy Titlewriter again

B.t.w. could you explain what was wrong. I studied the ifo's with pgcedit and ifoedit, but couldn't find anything.

                              And thanks again,
