        Settings - CCE Settings - CCE SP Trial

        CCE v2.70.02.10 is NOT SP2.

            Update....Now it is using CCE.....I have another question.....it is only using 2 passes.....i see alot of movies encoded with 4 or 5 passes...even 6 sometimes....i dont see a setting to change that anywhere....its like its all automatic or something.

              Settings - CCE Settings - Advanced (expert) settings - VBR Passes

              Everything more than 3 passes seems to be useless time consumption. Especially because of DVD Rebuilder's 'segmented' nature (divides the movie into segments, so the allocation of bits is limited).
              For movies that don't need high compression, let's say under 80%, you can use 2 passes without any problems.

                Now see i was looking in CCE for that setting....didnt know it was in dvd rebuilder.And the dvd im rebuilding is using a compression of about 54.4 percent....give or take a point or 2......will the 2 passes be ok for that?

                  54.4 is a heavy compression. I would suggest 3 passes for that.
                  But before you go on, did you cut out all unwanted stuff like language streams, studio logo's, warnings, trailers, etc...?
                  Doing that can save you a lot of space.

                    no...what i did was....cause im a newbi here.....was remove the unwanted audio and subs and hit the feature "steal space from extras 25%" cause i like having the extras but those come second to the movie for me.I figure as i learn more and more about these progs i'll get better at it.

                      Obtaining CCE

                      Hi All! Just got DVD Rebuilder Pro and am trying to get CCE basic. I don't have a credit card, apparently needed. Is there any way to get this DL without one? I do have PayPal or I would have to get a money order and wait for a hard copy via snail mail. Also, is there much of a speed increase using CCE over the generic encoders that come with the program? Another question is if my Sempron 2800 will handle CCE. Any and all info would be greatly appreciated.

                        @catthepatch

                        You can use HC Encoder, and since you have DVD Rebuilder Pro you can switch on 'Multiple Encoder Processes'. HC isn't compatible with dual core, but DVD RB will launch two instances of it instead. This results in a much shorter encoding time, though still slower as - let's say - CCE SP2.

                        HC is a very good encoder and it's free. I suggest you download a trial of CCE and compare it to HC. You'll be amazed.

                          That's something I never do. The loss in quality in the extra's is noticable. The space you gain with it is spread over the main movie, this little gain in quality is not noticable (except if you have very very large extra's of course).

                          But, that's a personal taste of course. You should try some different settings and compare the results.
