Dvd Region Encoding

You PAL or NTSC? If NTSC it will play after removing region coding and ensuring your player doesn't mind "all regions" DVDs. If PAL, most PAL players will comfortably play NTSC under the same conditions.

You have to dezone your player to be able to read the DVD and to rip it.
However, you might try AnyDVD or DVD43 as a temporary solution to rip the DVD.
It is probably better to buy the DVD with the correct zone.

I guess this stuffs the idea of buying dvds on the net. I dont get this though. any dvd can play in my PC right. What happens when I just reathor everything and make a new dvd?

I am asking because I hardly ever play a dvd that is not reathored as I prefer making a best hit compilation of all my dvds with TempEnc and have a new menu, tracks i like etc

So region encoding is still left after reauthoring and stuff?

Checking if you already have a all region player (if not a simple hack with the remote control, makes it region free) or buying a region free player will be your best option.

Region codes can be removed by reauthoring but conversion from NTSC to PAL or vice versa is what I dont suggest or do myself.

If you can play the DVD on your PC, you can rip it. And if you can rip it, you can change the zone.
However, I agree with techreactor. Converting the vide0o standard is more difficult, and you will lose some quality.
