Photos (JPEGs) to DVD creation software wanted.

I have a fairly big project to do and I want the right software!

I have to scan about 3000 photos (of different shapes and quality)

I want a piece of software that I can use that can do the following:

1. Create a playable DVD slide show (NOT JPG slideshow)
2. Have 4 sets of subtitles ( one for file # of the picture, the 2nd for music, the 3rd for who is in each photo, and 4th the date the photo was taken)
3. Must be playable with music

My first collection will be a Christmas family slide show so the info I need from the photos will be easy to collect.

Is there a decent piece of software out there that will allow me to build this DVD and recommend the suggested size of each JPEG?

You can create slideshows with DVD-Lab (Pro?), and add music and subpics, but you have to build the whole slideshow manually. It's time consuming if you have many pictures. I'm not sure it is easy to create the subpics, but it's certainly possible. Lab accepts any image (in any format) as input.

I've also tried several programs specifically designed to create slide shows with music, but none were as good as Lab. (I don't remember exactly, but I think none have subpic support.)

You can certainly also use muxman (free version), but, IMO, without a script or an external program to automate the creation of the project file, it's too much work.

I thought muxman only took BMP and not JPGs r0lz?

That's right! You can convert them first, but it requires a lot of disc space, and it's even more complex.

@Gary, maybe VSO PhotoDVD is what you're looking for. Looks easy to use.

DVDSanta creates photo dvd's pretty easily. Just used it to make one for my dad couple weeks ago.
