DVD Movie Factory Can't open my DV AVI files

Anyone experience this? I edited some DV video in Adobe Premiere 6 and exported it to Microsoft DV AVI format.
The problem is, DVD Movie Factory will not open my newly created AVI file. It complains that the format is unknown.

It has no problem opening DV AVI files that are directly imported from my DV camera using Adobe Premiere and the firewire card I have.

Also another issue, if I convert the video to mpeg2 first using lsx encoder plugin, it opens that. but the stupid program wants to re-encode the mpeg-2 video!!! why does it do that? can't I get it to just use the video i have. its already encoded in the proper format.

I don't seem to have this problem using the "Capture" function of Movie Factory. I used Ulead's Video Studio 6 to edit the avi files and re-output to avi's and they read fine.
    The software seems to differentiate between MPEG2 and MPEG2-DVD formats. The Ulead site lists the specs as follows (there are slight differences);
    DVD MPEG2 vs. Standard MPEG2
    video same (24 bits, 720x480)
    frame rate same (29.97 fps)
data rate variable rate vs. 8000 kbps
audio 48000 khz, 16 bit stereo vs. 44100 khz
    layer same (2)
audio bit rate same (384 kbps)
    Hope this helps.

Do you use the capture function to import an AVI file?

I've tried using the capture function with my DV card. It does seem to import the video, but when I stop it in the middle, it seems to process something and just "lock up". The progress bar stops moving...
      talk about annoying!

Anyway, i've found a solution finally. i just use TMPenc to encode it now. tmpeg is an amazing program.

I use Dazzle's DV-Capture utility to capture from my DV cam to PC. Have not had any problems with that. I'll experiment some time with capturing using DVD Movie Factory/Ulead Video Studio. I suspect they use the same modules since they are both from Ulead.

One more thing. Movie Factory Capture reads avi correctly when pulled from hard disk. As I said, I haven't used it yet to capture directly from camcorder.
