best dvd authoring program

hi. can some one please give me some info ?
what im intrested in a dvd authoring software.
i noticed that alot of dvd software i tried only lets me encode my custome made mpegs into "their" dvd compliant files, or not at all.
what i do is encode my files with TMPenc at about 10500kb. but when i import them into say ULEAD video studio to author a dvd it doesnt fit their compliance, or if i use that same mpeg in medio stream neodvd, it reencodes my 10400kb file down to an 8000kb file, (surely reducing the quality) what i currentlky use now is MGI video wave 5, it uses MY files and autors a dvd file for me with out giving me the dvd compliance stuff. however video wave 5 creates dvds that wont play past 50 minutes.
so in short, does anyone know of a software program that will let me use my own mpeg2 at MY bitrate and just encode authore it with out forcing my to use "their" dvd compliant specifications
i.e 8000 kb max video and 256kb max audio rate.

u might want to keep in mid that the max bitrate for a dvd is 9800. i use ulead's moviefactory for importing mpeg-2 files from TMPGenc. I have not once had a compatibility issue as long as you use the right template.

i see.
i indeed tried to import into ulead, but my bitrate was 10400.
that is probably why it was a "noncompliant dvd file"

so then if this is the case of dvds maximum bitrate is 9800 it answers my problems.

do retail dvd discs( hollywoods) dvd bitrate only 9800 ? the quality is much better then 9800 that can be authored with home user authoring.

actually no, the max bitrate for a dvd is 9800, but that does not necessarily mean that a dvd movie was manufactured at that bitrate. depending on how many extras there are, whether they use dual layerd or singles layered, one or two dvds, extra audio tracks etc, different dvds have their movies encoded at different rates. so if u take a dvd movie that was made at a bitrate of 7000 then you are wasting space with no extra picture quality by encoding at 9000.
