Interesting problem/project

Maybe one of you wizards can help me out here. What I'm trying to do after ripping a DVD is to make my copy as usual, but with a difference: What I want is to make the copy repeatedly playable! That is, continuous showing as in a theatre. Is this possible?

Any advice, help or suggestions would be appreciated.

Yes. This is especially easy if you have done a movie only rip.

In the post commands of the title, substitite for the exit command (or if there is none, substitute for the first post command). Using PgcEdit:

1. PGC --> Reset used gprms to 0; then after these have been done enter the following command on the next line:
2. Call the First Play PGC, Resume Cell 1

For example:

[71 00 00 00 00 00 00 00]   1  Set gprm(0) =(mov) 0 
[71 00 00 01 00 00 00 00]   2  Set gprm(1) =(mov) 0 
[30 08 00 00 01 00 00 00]   3  (CallSS) Call the First Play PGC, resume cell 1

This method is fine for a movie only rip.
If you have made a full rip, with menus, you can also repeat the main movie. Just add as the first post-command of the main movie:

1  LinkCN Cell 1

This command repeats the current title over and over.

Uh oh, I'm lost. This appears to be way over my head. I mean, I don't even know the difference between a BUP, IFO and VOB, much less how to edit same. Isn't there some simple sort of A,B,C way to do this? I downloaded PGCedit, but it's out of my league...

OK, load your DVD in PgcEdit.
Locate the main movie PGC in the left pane. You can find it easily by looking at the playback durations. Click on its label.
In the right pane, click on the gray label "***** post commands" and then on the "Add after" button in the bottom of the PgcEdit window. A new NOP line will be added beneath the label. Double-click on this new line.
In the new window, go to the first menu, called "alphabetically" and select LinkCN.
Be sure to put "1" in the "Jump to cell" box. Do not enable the "if" and "highlight button" checkboxes. Click OK.
Save the DVD (use File -> Save DVD.)
Test with a software player...

If your movie is a multiangle one it is recommended to use LinkPGN instead of LinkCN

Perhaps even easier for newbies is to use the DVD Shrink reauthoring plugin?

What can I say except thank you, one and all! Your expertise and willingness to help a hapless newbie is awesome, to say the least. Yes, I've managed to bull and blunder my way through a DVD and, voila, it plays now continuously!
