    DVD With VobBlanker problem

    I just edited a DVD with VobBlanker beta 8 and I removed the previews/warnings then I used the cut feature to cut the credits just after they start at the end of the movie. The movie plays fine and the menus work so I can select scenes. However, when the movie ends and I get 5 seconds into the credidts (in chapter 29) it ends like I wanted but then the movie goes to chapter 11 and continues till the end. I use DVD-RB HCenc_20 and ImgBurn. Sorry can't find a log for VobBlanker. Makes me wonder if it just goes to chapter 11 or is it encoded to the DVD and I therefore have more compression on the DVD. DVD-RB said 68% during step 1.

    Any ideas??

    Please post more info.
    Load your DVD in PgcEdit, select the main movie in the left pane, and go to Info -> PGC. Post the content of the info window here.
    And I need to know in which cell or chapter you did the cut with VobBlanker.

      @r0lZ

      Thank you, ere is the info. from my VobBlanker output. I believe it was cell 29 where I let the credits start then cut them. Chapter 11 then starts and the movie continues till the end. I would like to learn how to use this pgm. but it has always looked complicated, so I went the easy way with VobBlanker to do the simple stuff I want.

        Typically ARccOS crap! Not easy to understand, especially because apparently, the cell command numbers have been lost in the cell table.

        Anyway, I guess that you can probably remove ALL post-commands and ALL cell-commands, and insert only this post-command:
        Code:
        (CallSS) Call the VTSM Root menu of the current VTS, resume cell 1
        To do that easily:
        - click once on cell command # 26, and click on the Copy button.
        - select all post-commands and click on Paste Replace.
        - select all cell commands and click on Delete.
        Verify carefully if everything is fine with a software player before burning. Especially, verify if the right menu is called when the movie ends.
        If something is still wrong, try to replace the new CallSS post-command by the last cell command:
        Code:
        (CallSS) Call the VMGM PGC 8, resume cell 1
        At least one of those solutions should work fine.

          Thanks

          @r0lZ

          Thanks I will give it a try. Yes this was a Arccos DVD DVDD and a controlling pgm. had a terrible time so I used Fab for the full rip. and it took 1/4 the time. I thought DVDD was going to fail from all the tray cycles.

          On another topic, I have made a mpeg file from a sat. capture and demuxed with projectX then author with DVDAuthorGUI the DVD files. Is it possible to take the DVD files and split them so I can have a movie on 2 DVD5's rather than 1 DVD5 with PGCedit? I have King Kong and the movie is about 3 hrs. I use DVD-RB and HCenc20. Can you direct me to a easy guide, or is VobBlanker better for this?

          Thanks,

            You can do it with PgcEdit, but it is easier to use VobBlanker. Just blank out the second half or the movie and output to another folder. Repeat the same operation to blank out the first half.
            You might want to use PgcEdit after that to skip the tiny black cells added by VobBlanker, but it's not really necessary.

              For splitting a DVD9 to two DVD5 use Dvdfab

                @r0lZ

                Thanks i did what you said and the movie goes back to the main menu after the cut in cell 29. I am going to have to do some reading to figure out exactly what i did as I was folowing you steps.

                Did you write the source code for PGCedit?

                Thanks.

                      Basically, in an ARccOS protected PGC, most post and cell commands are there only to confuse the user. The idea is to add some unreadable cells that are skipped during playback.
                      It is possible to skip a cell if the previous one has a cell command that jumps over the bad cell. For example, if cell 1 has cell command "LinkCN Cell 3", then cell 2 is skipped.
                      A LinkCN command jumps always to another cell in the same PGC, and GoTo jumps to another command in the same section (and is illegal in the cell-commands section.) Since there are only 2 commands in this case that are not LinCNs or GoTos (the two CallSS), it was not difficult to guess that one of these commands was the right command to use.

                      One strange thing is that all cell command pointers in the cell table are all 0. This is extremely rare, and IMO, impossible, in an ARccOS protected DVD. Therefore, something went wrong with either Fab or VobBlanker. I don't use Fab, and I have never encountered this kind of problem when cutting a cell with VobBlanker. Can you confirm that the original decrypted DVD played fine (before the cut with VB)?

                        @r0lZ

                        yes it did play fine but I reauthored it with Shrink so it was main movie only and I cut the credits. I then decided I wanted the menus for navagation so I decided to take the same DVD files and remove the previews/warnings/ and cut the credits with VobBlanker. So I can't say that the origrinal DVD navigation worked before VobBlanker because I did it as main movie only. I tried to use Menushrink before VobBlanker but I got a message from VobBlanker that said :

                        detected ini/end cell pointer out of range in menus domain affected tilesets are ...... it lsited about 30 of them and a full scan was needed. I would do it but it still gave me large strange #'s in Initaial, Final, and Process.

                        After seeing this message I had Menushrink restore the backup and VobBlanker could then process it. Real strange thing was if I let Menushrink do its thing on the menus I would then open with VobBlanker and blank what i wanted to. I would look at the DVD size and it would show:

                        inital: 7039
                        Final: 771758

                        Rather large and I would get the message saying not enough room in the folder. So I would ask menushrink to restore the original and then VobBlanker was happy.

                        I will see if I can use the original rip and run them through Shrink as a full backup to see how the menus work and let you know in the AM.

                          Thanks.
                          Seems ARccOS has butchered this DVD more than I thought, as MenuShrink has normally not this kind of problem.
                          BTW, do not spend your time to verify that. It's not really important.

                            I started the encode before I checked your reply. The DVD worked perfectly before VobBlanker and Menushrink. I took the DVD files with no processing and did a full DVD with shrink since it only takes 40 mins with DA and AEC. Navigation worked perfectly.

                              So, either MenuShrink or VobBlanker has removed the cell commands when processing your files. I guess it's VobBlanker.

                              How did you the cut? In PGC mode (from the main VB window) or in Cells Mode? If you did it in PGC mode, maybe you have also removed a tiny bleck cell at the end of the PGC. That could explain the problem.
