How can I remove a single chapter from a movie?

I have a copy of the original The Sound of Music for my daughter. The trouble is that it is so faithful to the original that it has an intermission! There is a segment (a single chapter) of about 5 mins of background music with some scenery stills.

I would like to reauthor this with the chapter removed. My daughter is only 3 and keeps asking me to come and fast forward to the rest of the film.

I am using Win XP Pro. At the moment I only have DVD Shrink and DVD Decrypter installed.

You can use 're-author' mode in shrink to remove a portion. Actually, you would select what you want to keep.

Thanks for your reply, olyteddy, but could you explain that a little more?

I thought the things I could do in shrink were to select whole films/episodes (there is a proper term for this - is it a title?) and select a start and stop (to get rid of credits etc). I didn't think you could cut out a section in the middle of something.

Could you give me a little more detail on how I could?

Load your ripped DVD into VobBlanker and blank out your chapter.

I haven't used VobBlanker before. Would that remove the chapter, or would it just have a black (blank) screen for the duration of the chapter?

It would be very brief and you might not even notice it. Another advanced thing to do is insert a cell command into previous cell so that you can make it bypass the blank cell. e.g. cell 5(chap 4) to cell 7 (chap 6). Of course, this edit would be cone with PgcEdit.

You should give the chapter blanking a try first and test playback. If it doesn't work, you can always restore.

You can also delete the cell from the cell table using PgcEdit. Reclaim space afterwards.
