You will need to have a menu you like and re-author the DVDs command structure in order to use PgcEdit.

I have used this free program to author and it does make menus but I have never done it. DVDAuthorGUI I got it from www.videohelp.com You must demux your mpeg first and I end up with .mp2 audio so I convert the audio to ac3 then use DVDAuthorGUI for the 2 demuxed files ie .m2v and .ac3 or .mp2 if you don't convert (ac3 is 1/2 the size of .mp2 even at 48,000 192bits, 2 chan) since the audio is smaller it leaves more space for the video and I use DVD-RB/HCenc if I need to compress if no compression I use shrink.

I love it but have never made a menu.Comment

that is strange, give it another try by downloading again. If you make a menu really read the section in the link I put in my previous post (it's a little confusing but I went through it).
It is a great pgm and it does a real good job of authoring the DVD files. Nero/Sonic are nice since it does all the work for you. I wanted to learn the process so I take a .mpeg file and demux it (means the file is being separated into the audio stream and the video stream, the audio file has the extension of .mp2 or .Wav and the video file has the extension of .m2v) I demux with ProjectX which is a great free pgm. search my past posts regarding authoring files and you will see a link to it if you want it. Then I am left with the audio and video files, I convert the .mp2 or .wav file to .ac3 since it is a smaller file so I save space which can be used to improve the quality of the video since less compression will be used.
Now i use DVDauthorGUI click on add title and select the .m2v video file, then select the .ac3 audio file click on author DVD and wait.
This process from start to finish with a 7GB file takes aproximately 3 minutes to demux the mpeg with ProjectX, 1 minute to change the audio to ac3 with ffmpegGUI, 5 minutes to author the DVD files with DVDAuthorGUI. Then the DVD files are encoded with DVD-Rebuilder 98.2 and HCence encoder (both free) this takes the longest about 90 mins. If no compression is needed I use Shrink which takes about 4 minutes.
It takes longer than with Nero or Sonic but I like to use a pgm like DVD- Rebuilder and HCenc (encoder) which gives better output than a trancoder like Nero or Sonic. The trade off is time, I like the best quality so I don't care if it takes 90 mins. I just walk away and let the PC work.Comment
