Convert 4:3 to 16:9 ..?+ best editing software?

Hi

I would like to convert my wedding dvd from 4:3 to 16:9; is this possible without distorting stretching the footage....?

Ifso what software is the best to do this...?

I would also like to brighten the colour, contrast etc.

Please can someone advise on the best software for both...?

Thanks for the help ...will look into the prog mentioned...does dvd rb have the warp option to strech just the sides?
also does it have the abilty to adjust audio properties eg audio mixing + lowering volume level of certain parts of the disc ?( I had a mic on and it was a bit loud on certain parts)

Have also come across "powerdirector" does anyone know if this would also convert /warp to 16:9 or would it just crop?...I know it does the audio/brightness.

With DVD Rebuilder, you can use various AVI Synth filters to do whatever you like.

As for audio normalisation, not yet, but it is on the drawing board AFAIK. IN the meantime, you can demux (with PGC Demux), use BeLight to lower the volume and remux (wioth muxman).
