Sounds more like a memory problem -- Perhaps To much running (Or Virus) at once.
All Apps Dvd Apps are hogs when it comes to rendering.

How much free space on the drive?

        15 Gigs is plenty
Okay -- Lets break it up
First does Squish open the Dvdflick output
Make Menu as before -- except use create Menu not create menu and add it --If Error (Send me titlewriter.log) otherwise -- close tw -- reopen TW and your compiliation >> Click on the first line (Menu Selector Window)--Browse to Compiliation/Titlewriter/Menu/Video_ts folder>>Save Changes.

          Dont know what squish is.....

Ok I load source right, go to "menu text" I enter the Volume name and titles. I hit save changes and it goes to "select menus to add to compilation" I check the add menu box as well as "Start play with root menu" click save and get an error saying menu not added.

I tried to go into the "create movie menu" under dvd. but I dont know what I should or shouldnt change here, I click create menu at the bottom and the program closes down. I think Im missing something.
Ok I added background (could see it in the little window) I click preview and boom shut down.
ofcourse I noticed that what Im using looks slightly different from the one in the guide.

Okay Jensen -- You don't quite get the flow of the proggie
Squish is shorthand For DVDS****k in this forum (We can't mention that proggie --Forum rules)
TW Main is the main workhorse
You are correct in the DVDTEXT area (though you don't have to Save Changes before running Make Menu -- but it doesn't hurt a thing)

            As to adding menus
TW Main will accept any menu from any compliant dvd and try to make it work (A further step after Save Changes -- Happyface may be needed)
Happyface is never needed for completely generic Make Menu (No orig menus added) compiliation

Make Menu is a subroutine that creates a relatively simple small compliant dummy DVD with menus that matches your compiliation in Movies, chapters, audio streams, subtitle streams,Audio backgrounds

(The main difference is that the "movies content" are short dummy clips) via DVDAuthor (Hence the rendering speed))

DVDAuthor (And many other proggies) have a few foibles -- sometimes it doesn't like spaces in file paths.
(Hence this is why I suggested Loading TW in Say "C:\Titlewriter\.. )
thinking about it though the "old saved settings(in Registry)" will still point to the last place TW was loaded"

I'm trying to determine if I need to write a Installer/Update the Registry each time TW is reinstalled -- Not good"

You can select/change myriad things at this point in Make Menu

This Make Menu dummy compiliation is created in yourcompiliation\titlewriter\menu\video_ts folder
(It is a compliant DVD and can be played .. Just each movie is a short dummy)

After Make Menu completes Control is returned to TW Main

And the first line of "Select menu to add to compiliation" window is loaded with the path to the created menu folder

You can alter subsequent lines to point to Other menus (perhaps orig for multi movie compiliations from many dvd's) at this point

If "Create Menu and Add it" was pressed In Make Menu TW will then push the "Save Changes" button for you

            On Save Changes
Tw main will Save the DVDText
Tw main will then "blend" each menu (from content of "Select Menus to add to comp... " list in order ) with movies in your actual compiliation.

Sounds convoluted -- but it is quick this way

Now to the Make Menu Screenshot you sent
The first shows you are creating a menu for 5 movie clips -- no Chapter Audio menus
Control will go to the movie from the menu selector
The paths to the buttons etc are somewhere in Documents and Settings folder (See the highlighted above)

Any fix/advice first requires I Know where the crash is occuring (Make menu or TW Main)

So this will tell me whats going on

I'm starting to think it has something to do with using the "Documents and Settings" folder for DVD work on some computers

Fire up TW >> Load you compiliation >>Click Undo And Remove last Restor point Icon" a couple of times>>Click Make Menu

            Now a slight change
Click Create Movie Audio/chapter/setup... check box >>Click Apply to all (right next to it)

Click Create Menu (Not create Menu and add it")
You don't have to mess with DVDText as this is a test (Unless you want to)
When Make Menu is done control will be returned to Tw Main A Window will come up saying Menu has been created... wait for it)
If it crashes prior to this point the problem is in Make Menu -- Let me Know

now close TW!! (Don't add the menu)

Now goto the folder YourCompiliation\titlewriter\menu\video_ts and delete these files "vts_??_n.vob" files (where n is 1 or greater -- the Vts_??_0.vob files are the menu I need those)
Now Zip up YourCompiliation\titlewriter\menu folder (RClick on the folder>>Click Send to>>Click Compressed folder)
and Titlewriterlog.log (Located if Same folder As TW.exe)
And email compressed folder (Yourcompiliation...zip) to me -- I can then test the menu being created and I'll have the log showing the steps) to a dummy compiliation at my end

I still can't get it to crash at my end in the fashion you describe

                Well Uploaded Ttilewriter Ver. 4.52

Gave up on getting tricky Used a Simple method -- Just stomped on everything
Users will have to reset Settings/Make Menu starts to their personel preferences

All Users -- Delete All Prior Ver and links --
Jensen/Achonillo -- Not saying this will fix anything in your case -- but it eliminates many possible Windows foibles (Achonillo Got a feeling your need to reformat from scratch sounds like to many errors in to many places)

                    Hi, FA.
Ver.4.52 seems to lose the function that keep the setting of previous output (at least "Create Movie/Chapter/Setup/Audio Menus").

                    May I ask one question,
Is it illegal not to use English strings as DVDtext ?
I can edit title name in menu shot by Thumbnail Text of "MakeMenu", but can't chapter name.
So I edit chapter name in menu shot by DVDtext. It is reflected correctly to menu shot (it is very convinient), but seems to be wrong for DVDtext.

                    Regards.

                      Hello

                      Thanks for the new version.

Ok a couple of thing. Please don't take them personally
And that is that i hate installers.
But i know you had to do it.

The shortcuts only created for the user that installed.
And since the only user that can install it the admin who has write access to the program files. No shortcut are created for me ( user group)
Maybe a option to install shortcuts for all the users.

Jensen -- Did this clean up your problem

                        Jinjin_jp

Theres a preset in settings -- Make Menu will preset that setting for each movie "Create Movie/Chapter/Setup/Audio Menus" checkboxe on initial load --Is that what you are refering to.

As to chapter names -- those are imported from dvdtext area -- Run through the translator then rendered on the menu according to the font you select.
I guess I don't get the question -- unless you are refering to the font used In Titlewriter Main -- No I'm just confused -- No idea what you are refering to
The translator doesn't work in TW main
One thing though -- I've preset the DVD_Text area to code EN for english
                        Could that be it???

Dirio -- Ok I know I locked it up -- It really doesn't matter to me except that the path should be kept simple (KISS) "Avoid spaces and Offbeat chars"
Dvdauthor craps on them sometimes. (Actually its MS Windows screwing up piped bat files).
I'll upload a ver and open that up for user selection of target (Hopefully most will use the Default and no go off in crazy or cute paths

The installer creator I'm using is well not very versatile -- I'll check if the option is open on the shortcuts --but the above should let you do it by hand.

Okay Dirio -- Just Uploaded it Same Ver number
                          Shortcuts to common program group
Allowing User to select target (And I believe it will be remembered on Subsequent updates)

I understand "initial load" means first starting of TW after install. Is this understanding is correct?
When ver 4.51, I almost setted like below, and the setting is kept in next time after once setting.
                              (1)"Create Movie/Chapter/Setup/Audio Menus": off
(2)"On Button Pressed Play": set "Movies"
Ver.4.52 returns the setting everytime as (1)on and (2)"Vts Root Menu".

As to chapter names -- those are imported from dvdtext area -- Run through the translator then rendered on the menu according to the font you select.
                              Yes, it works well.

The translator doesn't work in TW main

"TW main" means DVDText editor of TW?
I thought it illegal to use Japanese as DVDText.
