Problems with Button Over Videos (BOVs)

Hi.

I just ripped, blanked some unwanted bits (VOBBLANKER) & shrunked (DVDSHRINK 3.2) a DVD.

I got a problem with the navigating the links / BOVs via the remote on the main menu. If you look at screenshot HF001, I can navigate to any buttons (whether on stand alone DVD remote or the arrow buttons on POWERDVD) "EXCEPT" button number 5 [it's the Green/Cyan Square in HF001].

However, I can still get to it by using my mouse in POWERDVD & the link still works, it leads to an Easter Egg I think!

I also included HF002 which shows the Pre, Post & Cell Commands of the main menu, the IFO files in WINRAR file & Menu Button Commands.

The 2 shots of the DVD using PGCEDIT8.

Can anyone help? Let me know if you need other info.

Please, no IFOs! And read rule 19 re ripping and DVD Shrink.

(IFO files have been deleted).

In any event, if you look closely, you can see button 5 is an Easter Egg. See buttons 3, 6 and 7 overlap? I'd bet button 6 only displays for a little time and it is the one which gets to button 5. The solution is to make buttons 3, 6 and 7 have some link to button 5 (although that's cheating somewhat ). Use the menu editor.

And these are not BOVs (although the DVD has them) - they are just regular menu buttons (BOVs are buttons in the titles domain).

In the menu viewer or editor, use the cursor keys of the keyboard just like a real remote to see if you can reach button 5. And enable "Show adjacent buttons" to help locate which button leads to button 5 and how.

Also, button 5 might be activated by pressing "5" on the remote (but that doesn't work with all players.) Verify in the advanced options of the menu editor if the "number of numerically selectable buttons" is equal or greater to 5.

Note also that there are 7 buttons in the cell, but 14 in the PGC. This means that there are at least two cells with buttons in the same PGC. Be sure to do the modifications in all cells!

Can I delete some buttons?

Hi guys.

So 3 buttons overlap? Which is the real one that leads to the Languages menu? I'm guessing it's no3.

Whichever one is the real one, can I delete/remove the links for the other 2?

Also, any other DVD navigational structure problems you see in my attachments? Is there a software that tells me such things?

They probably all do! It's just that one of them has different adjacent buttons, which can lead you to the egg. Try it and see. Go to each of the buttons in turn in PgcEdit and press edit and note where the top/bottom/left/right go to.

If you still can't figure it out, go to PGC 1 (root menu), Ctrl-M, click Edit and File-Export Whole Menu. Zip it and post it here.

By the way, does the DVD really start at Main Menu or are there any 1-2 sec rubbish that comes up first at a blink of an eye? I blanked as much as I could but still unsure.

Other than this main menu problem, any other problems with my rip that I don't know about?

As you can see, if you go left from button 3, then up/left from the resultant button 6 gets you to 7.

To make the menu start at the main menu, use Jump to PGC Upon DVD Insert. Guide on PgcEdit site.

We will not and can not comment on your rip.

Close the menu editor, and use the topmost large button in the menu viewer to select the cell to edit.
