PgcEdit: How-To Remove - Jumps to Void PGCs

Working on a project that has jumps to void pgcs.

How do you remove these? Do I even need to worry about them.

I've right-clicked in the main window (following the Jumps, Calls and Links to viod PGCs window: See Find Jumps to Void PGCs.jpg) and brought up the edit menu to Delete the high lighted entries of the void PGC (See Find Jumps to Void PGCs_2) but that stopped navigation on playback?

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Just do a Delete Uncalled PGCs and these should be removed. It is very unlikely that the nav should stop - no commercial authoring house would actually authro a DVD to stop dead. Trace your DVD again and see if these are actually called.

This is after I performed the 'Delete Uncalled PCG' function. One remained unremovable. Suggested manual delete. So did a 'Remap Titleset' as it wasn't the last VTS, and here I am. When I perform 'Delete last VTS in DVD' (put it on the bottom) and remove it - doesn't like running a Trace > Run. Stops playback in Pgcedit (no command found or something like that). So I restored backup and checked that it wasn't called elsewhere but 'Find jumps to void Pgcs' displays issues.

Sounds like I should leave it alone but it still bugs me makein it this way.

Its a PGC that needs removing, not a whole VTS.

OK. Change the 3 offending commands to NOPs and then redo Delete Uncalled PGCs.

As blutach said, the safest method is to trace your DVD to see if these PGC's will actually be called. A quick way to do this is to check the state of the gprm's that are used in your example.
Take case 1, the condition is: "if ( gprm(4) >= 28 ) then { LinkPGCN PGC 3 }"
To check if this condition will ever be true (the value of gprm(4) being >=28), you have to look at the command lines were gprm(4) is set. A very handy way to do this is the search window at the bottom of PgcEdit's main window. Your search string would be "set gprm(4)" Then click "All" so you can see all command lines in the navigation were gprm(4) is set. If gprm(4) is never set higher than or equal to 28, you can safely delete the whole command line. If you do find a command that sets gprm(4) higher or eaqual to 28, you have to search deeper. Do the same research for this new command line, as it is possible that this one is never called, due to a condition that will never be true. Also, it's possible that you find command lines where gprm(4) is given the value of another gprm. Same thing here, do research for this gprm to discover all possible values.

A really void PGC has no commands, no menu buttons or BOVs and its NextPGCN link is 0. When a void PGC is played, the playback must stops anyway. Therefore, unless there is an interesting content in its video cells (such as an explanation on why the DVD will stop due to parental management level), it is usually better to remove the jumps to it. Even if the condition can be true, skipping its playback cannot be worse than stopping completely.

Delete Uncalled PGCs removes only some jumps to void PGCs, in the menu domains with a particular structure produced by a specific authoring program. (I don't know which program.) In this case, I am sure that it is safe to remove the jumps. Even in this case, a confirmation dialog is displayed. In all other cases, it is the responsibility of the user to decide whether or not the jumps must be deleted. This is why there is a Find Jumps to Void PGCs function.

How do you remove a void PGC altogether?

I've got this one PGC (see attachment) that I don't know how to remove from the project?

Executing the Remove Uncalled PGC func does not find this one...

First you need to hide the buttons that refer to PGC 11 in PGCs 9 and 14 (button 2 in each case).

Then do a delete uncalled PGCs. Easy
