DVD Menu Authoring Problems

Greetings all, I've been experimenting with DVD creation for the first time....

I have 3 home movies as VOB files and I wanted to put them onto a single disk, with a menu. The movies all start in a similar way, so the standard menu provided by ZJ Media Win AVI Converter wasn't helpful, so I created AVI copies of the movies and extracted the bits I wanted for the menu, made a new menu and copied the VIDEO_TS of the 'desired' menu over that of the unwanted one.

Following that I loosely followed the instructions here -> Two movies on one DVD with IfoEdit modifying along the way for 3 movies. I also changed things to go the menu rather than play the first title.

The ZJMedia menu had a 'Play All' button, which I have removed with VOBEdit [although the picture is still there].

Now when I play the disk, everything works as I expect, until you return to the menu after playing one of the titles, where the original menu appears to be back. The 'Play All' button is live, and the menu buttons play the title number before the one you expect. It's almost as if there is a separate piece of code that runs the menu 2nd time around [I changed the first play attributes in the NAV Pack only]

Now I'm way out of my depth as I can't make educated guesses to find the code I need to change to make this stuff work properly.

Any suggestions gratefully received, but in beginners language please.

Use PgcEdit to hide the button so it will become unusable

I looked at the DVD in PcgEdit, and it found an error uncorrected by IfoEdit and confirmed that the Title menu only had the 3 buttons I expected. It also showed me that I had called the menu incorrectly after each title. Both of these errors were corrected, but this still didn't solve the issue of the buttons being messed up after the first selected title has played.

What really confuses me is the fact that Trace run in PcgEdit suggests that the menu is right, but my stand alone players have a different opinion....

If there are authoring errors, eg bad commands, the trace sholuld stop.

What were the exact authoring errors?

Also, in many disks, the menu is replicated in another PGC - dunno why. Hide all instances of the play all button with PgcEdit as suggested by Gary D.

There were no authoring errors and the trace appeared fine.

I've loaded the DVD into Pcgedit again and highlighted every line in the left hand pane, then clicked the menu button. The title menu looks fine, and the VTSs have a blank menu which Pcgedit says have no buttons or background.

It's driving me nuts, everything should work, but something somewhere is wrong and were it not for the fact it's duplicated on more than one stand alone player I'd be tempted to blame the player.....

OK, 2 things.

1. The full log isn't there and it clearly hasn't stopped yet.
2. This is a movie which is heavily protected by the latest Ripguard technology. As such, sadly, we can not discuss it on this forum (please see rule 19 and the announcement at the top of each forum. I have seen threads on Doom9 which refer to the nav being broken when ripping in movie and menu mode (but not full disk mode). That's about all we can do at this time. So, I'm going to have to close the thread, unfortunately. I hope you can understand this.
