Need help with old videos

I took some old videos off vhs to save, well as I veiw them on the computer they are a little blurry, blocky ect.... not great quality Reminds me of TV from the 60's.

Is there any program out there that can clear them up and brightin them up as well?

Use AVISynth filters: Sharpen might be what you need for your blurriness (but it could make the macroblocks worse). Tweak can help with brightening.

If your source is a DVD Video, these filters are easily applied using DVD Rebuilder and an encoder like HCEnc (just use Lumgain to adjust the birghtness).
