TitleWriter and VMG_TXTDT_MG table.

Hey all,

I am having a little error that I can't seem to get past nor find much information about. I am reauthoring and putting DVD text onto all of my DVD's since I have a jukebox. The error I am getting when I look at the completion of DVD Shrink is that "There is no VMG_TXTDT_MG table." Even though it is present when I look at it with IFO edit before I re-author it or let TitleWriter do it. I used TW to make the changes to the file first before looking at it with IFO Edit.

So...here's what I am doing:

1) Rip the DVD to the hard drive.
2) Loading TitleWriter (Ver 4.63) on Vista
3) Opening the video I wish to edit
4) Clicking Menu Txt button
5) Changing the Volume Name to the DVD name
6) Save Changes

Tried two different ways to make the new "texted" dvd:
7 - First Try) click the DVD shrink Icon in TW, Yes re author, drag the move over, and backup.
7 - Second Try) After saving changes I went in to DVD shrink without going to TW and tried a backup there.

Both had the same results. I can see the VMG_TXTDT_MG with IFO edit before I back it up but not after I create the ISO.

Target DVD size is set to Custom and 4463.

Also, I couldn't get TW to automate/name the videos based on the naming schema of my directory structure.

What in the heck am i doing wrong here? I feel like a newb, well, i am to TW, but I can generally figure things out...GRrrrrr...........

Have you thought of deleting the table and then re-writing it?

Squish reauthor removes all DVD_TEXT
Run TW After Squish

Don't bother creating iso's -- waste of time really -- just burn using Imgburn from inside TW
TW can't open Iso's (Actually no editor/manipulator can)

Add This line To TW -- View tools

C:\Program Files\ImgBurn\ImgBurn.exe /MODE ISOBUILD /BUILDMODE DEVICE /DEST "f:" /NOIMAGEDETAILS /WAITFORMEDIA /SRC "@DVDPATH@\VIDEO_TS" /SPEED 4x  /CLOSESUCCESS /VOLUMELABEL @DVDVOLUMENAME@ /START /EJECT YES

You will probably have to change /DEST "f:" to your drive and /SPEED and possibly the path to imgburn

You are describing Automated mode -- Are you burning from within DVDShrink if so TW wouldn't name things until after the burn

The Naming works as follows The Squish backup target filename is used
Everything before the final '\' is removed
For VOLUME: All Underscores are removed
For TITLE: all Underscores are converted to spaces

So Squish Backup target d:\mystuff\This_Is _A_Movie Becomes

Volume: ThisIsAMovie
Title:This Is A Movie
FYI -- You should NEVER have spaces in file paths -- Many programs balk using such files

I'm surprised Blu -- No Comment about using Squishs Secret Identity

I figure the thread has nothing to do with Squish and its secret identity and simply about adding a Text Data Management table, which IMHO is totally innocuous.

The reason I am creating ISO's is because I already created a few discs and afterwords found out that they did not contain the data for the jukebox to work. So, I create the ISO, and mount it virtually using MagicDisc and then open the VIDEO_TS.IFO with IFOEdit to see if the data is there. Just saves a few cents and frustration at least till I figure out where I am going wrong.

Am I causing the error(TXT Table missing) by re-authoring using DVD_Shrink after TW? Would burning from TW direct to disc be a solution, bypassing DVD Shrink all together?

Bluetach: Are you saying the TXT table is not worthwhile(innocuous)? If so, maybe I am missing something bigger, I thought the Volume and Title information had to be in the VMG_TXT area for the, in my case, Sony jukebox to read the disc title.

I will admit I am just starting to swim here in the DVD creation/editing world at the TW/DVD shrink/ IFO Edit level.

Thanks for the file naming tips. I picked up on that reading about TW, I do have underscores in the place of spaces. Once I figure out this little problem I will use the automated mode. You have a GREAT product FA, I truly understand all of the time you have put into it and I appreciate your work.

Because in re-author mode, a whole new IFO is written and the TXTDT_MG table is no more. After re-author, as FA says, add your text data with TW and burn. Omit the save as ISO.

And no, I was answering FA on another point. I like Text Data Tables, too.

Most if all programs do not use iso's -- ifoedit included -- its an extra step (now worthless (Used to be necessary in the bad old burning days))
Just tick create video_ts folder in Squish.
TW (and other programs) like that. and backup to a target folder.
You can open the videots.ifo in Ifoedit( or Pgcedit ,vobedit etc) as normal

If your rip is under the sl size you can just open the rip >> Text it >> save

One word TW in automated mode (Squish reauthor -- movie only) will readd the largest menu it detects -- it may need Happyface (I use Happyface on every movie -- it simplifies navigation (This speeds up Menu seeking during playback)
