1. Yes, but you'll need to merge them first. DVD Remake Pro can do this and keep both menus (you will either have to mount the ISOs or extract the IFO/VOB/BUP files to 2 project folders). Or there's a plethora of transcoding programs such as Nero Recode or DVD2One which can merge them together, but you will lose the menus.
2. Do not EVER use -R DL (they are technically deficient). Only use +R Verbatims 2.4x MKM-001 Made in Singapore.
Why do you want to do that?
IMO, merging two SL on one DL is not a good idea. There in no benefit, but several drawbacks. The DL media are more expensive and much more subject to defects and burning problems. And you will lose two backups at once if the DL gets damaged. There is also less space on one DL than on two SLs, so you might have problems if one (or both) discs are full, especially to place the layer break. Also, as blutach said, you cannot burn the ISOs directly. Furthermore, the DVD selection menu created by DVD Remake Pro is not compatible with all players.

I have to agree on this one. I have burnt a lot of SLs & DLs, scanning quite a few. While I don't hold the scans as absolute, they do give a general idea of how much better it is if you can put your project on a SL as opposed to a DL. I am talking no compression here as to quality, so this would be a project that is less than 4.37 GBs.
Actually to me Layer 1 most of the time is not the problem, it's that second layer. That's why now I take a pic @50% & at the end. Remember here that I am not talking about a bad burn, but the end result of a DL scan as compared to SL scan. I am just saying that if I had two projects less than 4.37 GBs, I would not hesitate to put them on two SLs as opposed to putting both on a DL. Don't get me wrong here, when you do a 1 to 1 to a DL & everything goes properly, playing the result is spectacular, but by the same token, putting a project less than 4.37 GBs onto an SL disc gives the same spectacular results & the resulting scans would be miles apart. I have seen scans where Layer 1 would compare to any full SL scan, but the end result does not. I am sorry if I am not explaining myself properly, but limited knowledge on the tech side, this is just the way I feel personally. Again I am not holding the scans as absolute, just a guideline.
