Help question to convert or rip twice?

Hello,
I am using xilisoft 24 pack application. I would like to back up my dvds to mp4-iphone format and to mpg - videocd format.

Is it easier to just run the dvd ripper twice, or would it be better to rip to mp4 then convert to mpg, or rip to mpg first then convert to mp4.
