How to disable buttons in x seconds

hello!
I've created an animated menu that in the end, the button letters (Movie, chapters, configuration etc) have a fade out effect in 1 second. I want to know how I disable the buttons in this second because I don't want to see the buttons highlights during this final effect (and I don't want these buttons being selectable).

I don't want to cut this final second and put it in the final of the menu. I want it as a continuous menu video.
I've seen this same effect in Star Wars Episode III DVD so it seems to be possible, how it is done?

I use DVDMaestro to do my DVD Authoring projects, but if anyone knows how to do it in another program....

Two ideas:

1. If you have a program that can author multiple sets of buttons in a single cell, author another x sets (say 2 more over the final second) which have different colourschemes / shapes. It's the colourschemes that are important - each button can adhere to one of 3 schemes and you can make the 2nd and 3rd sets go to schemes which have progessively more transparency in the button highlights.

2. If you can't author multiple button sets, split your video (using VobBlanker for example) into say 3 cells (making sure they are marked as seamless) - the first going for whatever, the second for 1/2 second and the third for the final 1/2 second. Assign colourschemes as described above.

Finally, in both instances, make the commands for each of the buttons (except for the first set) NOP (which will make them unselectable).

About your 1st idea, I know how to do groups of buttons with different colourschemes but I don't know how to put them in different sets.
Do you know if DVDMaestro can author multiple sets of buttons in a single cell? And if it can, do you know how to do it in Maestro? And if it can't, do you know a program that can?
