DVD_text exceed in TitleWriter

I just backed up GI Joe with DVDFab 6.1.2.5 and was attempting to add DVD text using titlewriter v4.65.

As i have been doing for the last 2 years, I alter the volume name for the text to appear on my Sony CX995.

i entered the text "G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra" without the quotes. when i saved changes I got the following error message.

Congadulations!!
You managed to exceed Titlewriters DVDText limit of 32kb.... Save changed denied -- Reloading.

Not to be thwarted, I closed the application and re-opened the app and file and made no changes to the volume name and tried to save the file... I got the same message.

Any thoughts? or known problems

Remove the DVD text and start again.

Thanks for the suggestion, I erased the DVD text, only the "Name:" was left and got the same result..You managed to exceed Titlewriters DVDText limit of 32kb.... Save changed denied -- Reloading.




I have never run into this before.

Erase the full text area. USe PgcEdit for this. This will recreate a blank area.

Many thanks for your suggestion, I tried a slightly alternate solution


... I opened GI JOe in PgcEdit

I did note that PgcEdit fussed about Error in Title Play Map table [VMG_TT_SRPT] and other such nonsense about new copy protection, so i let it repair the items


I clicked on Set DVD-Text General name it was empty so i entered the text "G.I.Joe: Rise of Cobra and saved.

Next i opened the file in TitleWriter and the text was double entered.

on line 1 : Name: G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra
on line 2 : Movie: G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra

so i delted line 2 and saved, this time there were no errors while saving.

I'm going to add my p-jacket images and test it with image burn....

When you enter the DVD name with PgcEdit, it creates intentionally two entries: the General Name, and the Movie Name (I don't remember the exact labels, but it's something like that.)
PgcEdit does that because some players display only the General Name, and other players only the movie name. Anyway, the presence of both strings should not hurt.

The size limit can be exceeded when you enter something with TW if the other strings were already defined in the original DVD. When you remove the DVD-Text table with PgcEdit, it removes the table completely, and it recreates it with only 2 entries when you create the General Name. Of course, there is still much room for other strings that you can define with TW.

Devoir -- 4.65 is a bit old --That message was sort of a joke (I really thought it couldn't ever happen --though I pulled it off once creating "MST3K like" text at the Cell level)

When TW loads a compiliation it either creates either a dummy segment (titles and chapters entries for each title detected) or loads what it finds.

I think 4.65 contains an error (nothing really major if you just use volumename and title) you should update.

well anyway to reduce from the 32 kb error -- TW Ver 4.72

First TW>>Settings>>Change Settings>> turn on both lines about Sony and Pioneer Jukeboxes ( just to cover all bases)>>Save Changes

Load the compiliation

TW>>DVD Text>>Rebuild ... to Dummy (if a segment was present this cleans it up)

RCLK on the window showing DVD-Text

Click macros 5,10,16 Rebuild,Remove Time info, Remove Chapternames --
That should do it (And I'd really like to see the Video_ts.ifo if it doesn't)

Then edit normally as you wish

You can add/Build a whole DVD_Text title segment (HighLight the Title then Option 13) from movie entries in Chapter database (if entry for that movie exists) if you wish really verbose info (Chapter names for G.I. Joe... don't exist) but I don't think the Sony Juke "Sees" the deeper codes them --Pioneer's do

That database is pushing Title and Chapter names, and genre codes for about 3000 movies


PgcEdits DVD-Text doesn't handle sorting codes(technically a no no) (and is a tad sloppy on offsets)-- Technically incorrect but it works (though pioneer jukes lose track and info page is iffy)
