pgcedit- Calling a menu from another vts

    Hello boys!

So i have been using pgcedit for some time now and i think i have learn the basics.

I know all about editing my dvds and cleaning up unused vts/title sets and so on.
so i know pretty mutch all i need to.
    Except for one thing!

Some dvds that i am working with i get some menu problems with.
I scould have taken some pics but i dont have any dvd with that problem right now so i will have to try and explain as good as i can lets hope that you guys can help me.

So lets say i have a dvd, i am editing the dvd strukture and deleting some unwanted stuff and so on.
This dvd got its main menu in one vts lets say vts1
and the main video is in another vts lets say vts 2
So i now klick on the pgc that contain my meny and i select it to be the root menu all is good in the world.

Now i check out the menu (ctrl+m)
now here is the prob there is alot of commands that i can use but i cant find any that helps me link a button in my root menu in vts1 to the main video in vts2!
The only thing at all that i find that i can use to link between the vts is that i can use jumpSSVTSM to link to another menu in another VTS but no commands to link to a title or pgc in other vts.

So i was hopping you guys could help me out
Is there a way to link my root meny in VTS1 to my main video/pgc in VTS2?
I understand that i could change the menu to be in VMGM and then link it?
I dont realy know how to that but i am thinking there has to be a way to just link it without doing that.

I am thankful for any help because i do alot of dvds and i get this prob from time to time.

Thanks in advance for all the help i can get!

    Regards Amstaff

    Welcome to the forum, Amstaff!

It is not possible to jump directly from a VTS to another VTS (probably because only a single VTS is loaded at a time in the small amount of memory of the cheap standalone players). But you can jump from a VTS to a PGC in the VMGM, and from that VMGM PGC, you can jump to any VTS.

    So, the trick is:
    1. Create a new dummy VMGM PGC and add a pre-command that jumps to the target PGC (menu or title).
    2. From your menu, jump to the new VMGM PGC.

Note that you will have to do the same thing to return to the menu from your title. It's often more tricky, as you can jump from the VMGM to a VTSM entry menu only (ie to the Root, Subpic, Audio, Chapter or Angle menu), but you cannot jump to a non-entry menu PGC directly. If you need to do it, you will have to set a value in a free GPRM, then jump to an entry menu PGC, and in that PGC, check the value of the GPRM, and jump to the corresponding PGC. Of course, you must reset the GPRM value so that the next time the menu is accessed, it will not "think" again that it must go to the menu PGC.

It is also possible to re-author the DVD completely, and, for example, move the menu to the VMGM, as you suggested. But it's not always easy. For example, you cannot jump directly to a specific chapter of the movie from the VMGM, and you cannot change the audio or subpic stream. So, if you really want to do that, I suggest to move the main menu in the VTS containing the main movie, and use the trick described above to jump to the bonuses in the other VTSses. You can also split the menu in different parts, and put the chapter, audio and subtitle menus in the movie VTS, and the bonus menu in the VMGM.

    Good luck!

Use the SetSTN command to select the right track number. You can set it in the button itself, or use a link to a new dummy PGC in the button, and change the audio and/or subtitle track in the new PGC. Of course, if you opt for the new PGC method, you have to return somewhere else after having selected the streams.

Note that you cannot use SetSTN in the VMGM or in the First-Play PGC.
