Subtitles too small, despite resetting the list font and saving the new size...

    Hello,

I used Divx Land Media Subtitler to make some subtitles recently (two SSA files) for a couple of things, and they're now ready to be embedded and burned to DVDs.

The only problem is, that whenever I embed them (using virtual dub), the subtitles come out much too small. This is odd, because I keep resetting the list font (to larger) in an attempt to make them bigger (just not too big...), and the result is the same.

Whenever I load the subtitles into the video file (testing it out), they are always the right size, whether I changed it or not.

    Very strange.

I'm sure I'm probably just missing something obvious, but any help would be very appreciated.

P.S. I've tried making them an option using DVD flick, too, but no matter what I do, it messes with the punctuation in my subtitles, and shows them in the wrong color (white), even if I set it for yellow.

Some programs will just read the text out of subtitle files if they only support .srt subs. They don't use the placement or color information. I would try a program that reads the SSA and outputs a graphical format.. such as idx/sub. Then you can burn in the subs with anything that can use an AviSynth script. VobSub("subtitle") where subtitle is the base name of the idx/sub files. See AviSynth for info. It's very powerful. You can even fix videos that are otherwise unwatchable using the filters that work with it(sometimes.)
