    Newbie Question about Method and Guides

    Hey Everyone,

    I just recently bought the now famous Sony dvd-burner and I want to begin backing up my dvd collection. I have tested directv before and I know the power of "reading" and I am willing to do it, I just need some advice as to where to look from you pros.

    Personally, I don't like to reduce the bitrates of movies and I would rather back-up my movie on 2 dvds with 5.1 or dts sound than try to fit a movie on one dvd. Then, when the dual layer burners come out, I can burn them again. But, at the same time, I don't care about other languages or extra features, I just want a dvd that has the title menu, scene selections and the video and audio perfectly backed up.

    I know a good deal about dvds and backup, decrypter, smartripper, dvd x copy, dvd2one, etc. I just need advice as to what would be the best method and which guides to use for my specific backup preference. Finally, I know technology is changing so quickly and if what I want to do is not possible right now, I would appreciate the advice to wait a bit, so that i don' have to back up movies twice.

    Thanks for the advice and thanks admins for a great forum,

    "when the dual layer burners come out"

    Don't hold your breath on that one ;>}

    two of the three links at the top of this page, namely DVD Digest and DVDR Digest, will bring you to sites that have tutorials on splitting DVDs for burning to two burnable DVDs...
