    whats new?

ive been out of the dvd9 to dvd5 loop for about 3 months and i was just wondering, what is the best picture quality software backup tool at the moment. i was using dvdtodvd-r which used cce, trouble was it did not allow menu backup. what id like to know also is if there is any software backup utilities which allow you to use a lower bitrate for menu vob's and a higher one for the video content. the reason is i have minority report which has a 600mb+ menu vob which i would like to shrink by at least half.

          just bought dvd95copy v1.4

ok dvd95copy v1.4 allows selective compression, but so far i havent manged to get a working dvd out of dvd95copy v1.4. is there any other software which will do the same but actually work, cause i think im gonna send this beta back.

In your other post here, you've stated that you've only attempted to convert ONE DVD...

            1) I've had great success using DVD95Copy to compress about 30 DVDs

            2) DVD2One is another excellent commercial program

            3) Try playing with the FREEWARE DVDShrink

blade2 r2 pal stops on warning screen
starwars episode2 r2 pal plays just the movie no menus

will update as i work through my collection but it dont look good to me, is it because im playing the dvd from the harddrive? though the original rip works fine.

Have you tried burning one and playing on a standalone DVD player?

not yet. im now playing with dvdshrink and this seems pretty cool, id like a fully variable compression percentage though, as one dvd was 4.40gb on one setting and 3.97gb on another.

                    dvd shrink

dvd shrink works a treat trouble is its not the best quality resize ive ever seen. im just wondering if i could use dvd shrink to create working ifo's and dvd95copy for the vobs then mix the two?

                      other programs?

apart from dvdshrink, dvd95copy and ic7 what other programs allow selective variable compression?

I've tried all programs, but have found DVD2ONE is the best and the fastest one too...

dvd2one doesnt do extras recompression though.
