    Converting PAL to NTSC

    Hello everyone,

I think by now I've got the basics of this DVD back-up game down, thanks to such excellent programs such as DVD Shrink! There are however many more things to learn, such as my next problem.

My friend was visiting England and bought an Oasis DVD, forgetting that DVDs are not only region encoded but have different video standards all over the world.

So, I'm looking for help in convering a DVD from PAL standards to NTSC, so that we can all watch it on the TV on his standalone player.

I'm not sure about the layout of the disc, but I'll probably want to be doing the equivalent of a full-disc.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Have you checked the settings available from within the standalone player (for both region selection and "NTSC/PAL/Auto")?

Well, I ripped the disc and just enabled all regions and burned it, and it worked on the player. I guess it's just lucky that his DVD player converts PAL to NTSC. Do most DVD players do this?

In response to the info about IFOedit, it's true that you can alter the descriptive nature of the video standard, from PAL to NTSC and vice versa, but this will not change the actual video stream, will it?

I'm still interested in a way to convert the Video signal on the DVD from PAL to NTSC. If anyone has any more info, I'd be very grateful.
