"i have a panasonic dvd recorder"

    1) If you're referring to a DVD recorder that's part of your home entertainment system (as opposed to a DVD burner that's part of your PC setup), you can't duplicate commercial DVDs with it because the commercial DVDs have copy protection incorporated in their structure.

    2) If you're referring to a DVD burner that's part of your PC setup, you can use "DVD Shrink" to directly remove copy protection (otherwise known as "ripping") and compress (if necessary) the resultant DVD structure to a folder on your hard drive. You can then use a program such as "NERO" to burn your DVD copy
