    discs

i have recently bought a new pack of discs (dvd-r) to back up my dvds. these discs are not very good as when the film is playing after it has copied it is freezing and stopping half way through.
can anybody point me in the right direction on which discs are best for the LG gma-4020b recorder, if not then which multi purpose discs are the best????
    thanks in advance

Ritek seems to make consistently excellent quality DVD-Rs...

U may also want to remove the layer breaks before burning.
When i started removing layer breals from the IFO movie files.
The stops, pauses, freezes were no more.

Ritek are in my mind one of the best discs available. However, you have to make sure you get premium grade A discs. I recommend Clone Disc and Traxdata Riteks.

I use Fujifilm DVD discs and never had any problem.

They are good, but more expensive than the Riteks and usually have the same end.

It shouldnt affect the actual burning process. Problems with DVD Movies will be encountered in the Decrypting and compressing stage. If it freezes during recording, this is a system/software or media fault.

                  Dirty/scratched DVDs or dirty player.

Try running a DVD/CD cleaning disk on your player. Maxell makes one that retails for approximately $10US...

Try not to use the cleaners that have strands of fine fibre brushing the lens. This can lead to the lens going out of focus. I believe the alcohol based once are the bests.
