DVDXCopy Xpress error on loading: "SoftICE" loaded?

I have recently installed numerous encoding and authoring software (AVE2SVCD (+ software bundle), Cinema Craft Encoder, AC3Machine) and now when I try to launch DVDXCopy Xpress I get an error message on screen saying "Program cannot work with SoftICE loaded".

Have have searched all the faq's for any mention of SoftICE but cannot find any mention of it.

Has anyone ever come across this error message?

This is possibly not the answer you expected, but DVD Shrink will do all that DVDXCopy XPRESS does, and more.

Get rid of SoftIce/WinIce debugger error

I was searching the internet for a long time on this and found a thread on an 'annoyances.org' forum. Here is the thread:

In your '\windows\system32\drivers' directory there might be a file named 'amdfix.sys'. I renamed it to amdfix.sys.bak. Rebooted the system and everything is working fine now. I have no clue how it got there but I don't get the debugger error anymore. This had to be one of the biggest problems I have had. I was ready to wipe the whole system.

I was unable to run DIVX and a few other programs because of this low level debugger running. See if this fixes your problem.
