    ripping slow with Pioneer A06...

i have a pioneer A06, but it rips DVD's too slow. i am wondering if there will be a firmware update soon to allow me to rip movies faster, like at 8X. right now, it is 2X. i used to have the A05, and when firmware was released, the movies ripped much faster. just wondering when we can expect this for the A06.

anyone else experience the same thing? or can you guys rip fast with the A06?

There is an update, but a lot of people arent too happy with it. Wait unitl Gradius releases an RPC 1 hack firmware update as this should help the speed too.

I have recently purchased this dvd writer (3 days ago).

I noticed that there is a region protecion (as expected). Do you know where to look for a hacked firmware update?

      Thank you

      Nick

there is no rpc1 update yet, and i think the 2x dvd rip speed is normal for dual layer DVDs, most DVD drives only read dual layer DVDs at that speed

I dont think 2x 'should ' be normal. It is because all DVD Writing drives have had their read speed capped to prevent people from using them to copy DVD's. That is why i recommend checking that website for an RPC 1 Hack version of the firmware, when it comes out.

I just bought the A06 tonight , and am burning a disc at 4x as I write this. The new firmware is out which will allow you to increase the speed of ripping. Works like a charm. For burning images, I am using DVD Decryptor, and am using Stomp 4.5 with the updated px engine for burning VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders.

                http://support.sonic.com/downloads/engine.asp for the updated engine.

                http://forum.rpc1.com/viewtopic.php?...&highlight=a06 for the updated firmware.

Never worry about burning the AUDIO_TS folder as it will be empty since it is only used for DVD-A
