Good morning to everybody, I have sometimes a problem when I split a DVD using ifoedit; in 2nd disc the scene menu isn't able to select the right scene on the movie. I've tried a lot of ways but it doesn't work, it's driving me mad!!! May you tell me how to change the ifofile of the scene menu to redirect scene pointers to the right chapter. Please help me!!! Thank you very much in advance
when I split a dvd9 scene menu doesn't correspond to right scene

If i understand this correctly (i've been known to mis-understand in the past ) you wish to split a DVD into two seperate discs. You could try using DVD Shrink to rip/compress (if needed) the disc. Then load up TMPGEnc DVD Author. You can use it to select half the VOB's and create one disc. Then select the other half to create the other disc. Use the user guide here:

The poster has indicated that he/she wishes to simply split a DVD in two - which presumably means duplicating any and ALL files, menus, languages and subtitles. If this is, in fact, the poster's objective, your suggestiions won't meet the need:
1) Using DVD Shrink in the manner you've described will result in the loss of the TRUE menu(s)
2) Using TMPGEnc DVD Author, while providing the ability to create a (totally different) menu structure, will result in the additional loss of alternate audiostreams (only one will survive), as well as the loss of ALL subtitles
Of course, your suggestions are valid if the poster merely desires to split the "movie only" to span two DVDs...Comment

Thank you to everibody!!! Setarip is true, I normally WANT to keep everything, menues and so on. In particular, I would like to keep menu on 2nd disc, too. I've tried DVDFab to split but it doesn't keep the menu on 2nd disc. Do you know some other ways to do it? Thank you very much in advance for your helpComment

As I understand it, the second DVD created by DVDFab contains ONLY the remaining portion of the movie (ALL "extras" are on the first DVD). If this is so, a menu on the second DVD serves no useful purpose - you can access the chapters of the second DVD by using your standalone DVD player's remote control...Comment

Yes setarip, you are right, anyway when there is enough room I include extras on 2nd disc, too, and in such case the menu is needed on second dvd. Anyway, sometimes, scene start doesn't correspond to chapter start, so menu could be useful, too. What to do in such cases? Sorry for being annoying, maybe you've got another idea... Thank you very, very much in advanceComment

I just want to include the same extras on first and on second disc, so it should be useful menu on second disc, too. And I would like to use the menu scene selection on second disc to select the RIGHT scenes. Have you got another idea to accomplish it? Thank you very much in advanceComment

"Have you got another idea to accomplish it?"
Sorry, but no, I have no further ideas on how you can do this presently.
The author of DVD Shrink has indicated that a future version of that (excellent) program may include the ability to add a menu to a re-authored DVD...Comment

Thank you very much setarip for answer. You know, I have Menuedit, too, but now it's not useful because in the film I'm actually FIGHTING with, "Magdalene" (maybe for English and US version the right title is "Magdalene's sisters") the transition to the right scene is performed via ifo files and not via vob navigation pack, which can be changed by editing buttons with menuedit. So I'm wondering that I should change some commands in the ifo files with ifoedit. Anyway I don't know what exactly commands DO and which commands are used and the syntax to program an ifofile. Maybe you know some guides or you can give me a link to a guide or a tutorial on commands and "how to" with ifo files. Thank you very much and have a nice dayComment
