If you use crap media u get crap results!!

Don't use cheap media cos you get crap results, loads of expensive coasters and dvd's that only work in certain players...

...Its worth paying the extra 50p or so for quality Verbatims etc...

You should always use the many freeware softwares available that will enable you to determine the "true" manufacturers of the dvd media.

dvddecryptor can do this as well as ADVDINFO, other software can also be tweaked for the task:

Be aware that what may be reported could be a FAKE disc id.

For example, when I was a dumb noobie I bought some Princos that said TDK... on the physical lable. They burned like crap. After some research I learned that this was a known scam. I think TDK was pursuing the faking. The practice is not that common but be careful.

I swithched to Ritek G04 with a Pioneer 105 and have not had a single coaster.

I'm sticking with RW's from now on. I bought some Ritek Datawrite +R's and have two failed burns. Some have also got blue marks on the disc.

i bought some datawrite's and found they had the same manufacturer info on the disk as bulkpaq disks!

but they still not quite as bad as bulkpaq!!

FWS branded dvd+r disks are great!! not one coaster yet!

                        http://www.blankdiscshop.co.uk £25 for 25 disks.

In case there are any misconceptions, the issue of "crap media" is not restricted to +/-r but can also occur with +/-rw media. In most cases, the quality of the media depends on the manufacturer---Taiyo Yuden, Fuji, and Ritek brands have recieved consistently positive reviews.
