    Stumped!!

I'm new to ripping DVDs so bare with me if this question has been asked before. I have been using DVD X Copy to back up my movies (successfully). Unfortunately, I hit a snag today. DVD X Copy was unable to find the split for the movie I was ripping and consequently would not burn onto my backup DVD-R.

So I turned to DVD Decrypter. The movie was successfully ripped onto my hard drive. I flipped through the chapters to make sure all was well.

When I used IFOEdit and got to the step of splitting the movie on to two DVD-Rs, I basically got no information (see attachement).

I think the problem has to do with how the movie is set up (i.e. the opening menu gives you the option to watch the movie in widescreen or full screen as well as choosing between the theatrical release or the extended uncut version).

Can anybody help me? I own a LOT of movies (all purchased) so I want to protect my investment by backing these films up.

    Regards,
    Peter

have you explored compressing your entire DVD9 to DVD5, using (excellent freeware) DVD Shrink, or (commercial) DVD2One, DVD95Copy, or similar.

Before you say, "But I want to retain the same video quality as the original", check out one of the above-mentioned programs and see what you think of the results...

I agree with setarip I use DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink (3beta5) for most if not all of my back ups media is too exspentive to buy two disks for most movies. I made a back up of Lord of the Ring the Two Towers with the above at 58% main movie with DD EX (audio) and the video and sound were great on my panasonic dvd player hooked up to (with component cables) to my panasonic 27" tv. give the combo a try. DVD Shink is the best commercial or freeware program and i give much praise to him for his kindness!!

Try DVDFab if you want to split the movie - free, no risk.
Or that other new one that has spyware on it if you really want.
Of course have your firewall program block all outgoing internet access by the program.

Try this method using DVD2one and Anydvd

A tutorial for you using a method similiar to what set mentioned above.

I have had excellent results using this method. I had a-lot of friends asking me how I just threw up a tutorial for them primarily but have heard from many others that stumbled upon it said they are using it now also. About the only thing I run into occasionaly is that I have to copy the files to my drives first then compress it. Usually I just rip and compress off the dvd directly but it takes like 2-1/2 hours. However you save lots of room this way. If you have lots of hard drive space then rip to drive first then recompress it.

Don't want to offend anyone just a method that I have been using and it has worked every time still.
